This year I was determined to run the Tough Mudder once again. I enjoyed it so thoroughly last year that I was in no way going to miss it. And somehow, my enthusiasm convinced both my brother Brad and my fiancé Mike to run it with me.

Of course, I've been training with a fair approximation of discipline pretty much since last year and I was more than ready for this event. My brother is a marathon runner but has not done ANY strength training in a few years, and my fiancé who is a strong man naturally, has simply been doing no training whatsoever.

What this meant was that I was more than willing to take it at their pace. And by their pace I mean I'd take the lead and march them as fast as I could until it was obvious that they simply could not maintain that pace. That resulted in a completion time of three and a half hours. Which was the average completion time for the course, and we were walking.

The day itself was starting off humid and overcast, but there was enough of a wind to keep the day pretty much PERFECT for what we were doing. The event itself was very well organized, with the wait for parking being relatively short and plenty of spaces available right at the site for the spectators and participants.

The weather went sunny on us part way through so I am now sporting a rather FANTASTIC sunburn, and that was even with sunscreen on just-in-case. The weather remained gorgeous throughout the day.

We had a short start wall to jump over to get to the beginning area. I helped hoist my fiancé and my brother over the wall and then hopped over myself. Let the games begin.
