This was by far my most favourite obstacles, and I got to do it TWICE, as they appeared twice in the course this year.
The mud mile is a series of trenches spaced evenly apart, too far to jump the distance between them. In between the crests of the trenches are valleys filled with mud and water, about waist deep. I charged ahead of my boys like always. The first trench I slipped into with ease, trekking to the ridge and climbing up the slick mud and rock with ease. I've always been a climber and adding mud and sharp rocks to it only adds to my enjoyment of it.
This enjoyment was added to when I had to help pull both my fiancé and brother up EVERY trench because they couldn't seem to manage to find grips themselves. I am a MOUNTAIN GOAT! My fiancé also flat out admitted that he could not do this course without me. He realized at this point that he simply wouldn't have had the mental OR physical fortitude to push through this course on his own. It was gratifying to hear because he's never really admitted to me that he balled out of training for this, although we both know he dropped his end of the bar on that one.
