SCENE III. A room in Lucius Malfoy's house, #10 Downing Street.

Enter NARCISSA MALFOY and BLAISE

NARCISSA MALFOY

Blaise, where's my son? Shouldn't you be with him?

Are not you his bodyguard?

BLAISE

Now, ma'am, your son is seventeen years old,

I bade him to stay. But he was so mad that he left!

I'm sorry! Perhaps he returned? Draco!

Enter DRACO

DRACO

How now! Who calls?

BLAISE

Your mother.

DRACO

Madam, I am here.

What is your will?

NARCISSA MALFOY

This is the matter, Blaise, give us a second,

We must talk in secret! Wait! Blaise, come back again!

I have remember'd that thou's hear our counsel.

Thou know' st my son since you were boys.

BLAISE

Yes, ma'am and friends all the while.

NARCISSA MALFOY

He's not eighteen. You are both boys still.

BLAISE

I'm am older however

NARCISSA MALFOY

A few fortnights and odd days.

BLAISE

Even or odd, of all days in the year,

I'm still older, nay I should live a thousand years,

I never should forget it: I am older;

And, Draco, the pretty fool, will sulk and said, 'Ay.'

NARCISSA MALFOY

Enough of this; I pray thee, hold thy peace.

BLAISE

Yes, madam: yet I cannot choose but laugh,

To think he should leave crying and say 'Ay.'

My mother, a widow of all these years;

Let me serve your house as a page and servant:

And now to my delight, I serve your son,

who's closer to me than any, but I am of age,

And am therefore older, when thou comest to age;

Wilt thou not sulk and said 'Ay. You are older.'

DRACO

And sulk thou too, I pray thee, Blaise, shut up!

BLAISE

Peace, I am done. But say, older or not,

Thou wast the best man that e'er I know:

And I might live to see thee married, to a fair one.

I have my wish, my brother. I wish to see you happy.
