"Speaking of Code, where is he?" Snake asked all of a sudden.
I snorted. "We weren't talking about Code at all."
I was moaning about the abscence of chocolate in my life because I ate all of it yesterday. Snake had started quoting Forrest Gump before he asked the most random question ever.
"Sure we were. Chocolate, Forrest Gump, Tom Hanks, Da Vinci Code, Code. Simple." Snake shrugged.
My jaw dropped and I think Jake was doing something similar.
"That was the most intelligent thing you've ever said." Jake said in awe. I nodded like a braindead zombie, my facial expression hadn't changed.
Snake rolled his eyes. "Very funny. I can do smart."
Jake and I started laughing while Snake pouted like a little child.
"Sure you can." I said while patting his back.
"He's probably ditching again." Jake said.
Jake could've been speaking Chinese for all I cared. What the hell was wrong with these guys today?
Was it brainfart-day? If it were I'd lost my invitation.
"Were you guys sniffing glue earlier? I'm lost here." I raised my hands in surrender.
"Code, Jill. I was talking about Code." Jake explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Well, it wasn't pal.
"Oh. I was ready to ignore you for making a random comment." Snake said. Apparently we both weren't part of the conversation anymore.
Jake facepalmed. "Idiots." He mumbled in his hand.
"We could check if he's here." I suggested. "What class does he have this period?"
"English, I think." Jake answered.
"I thought you had English with Code?" Snake asked.
"Yeah, so?" Jake frowned.
Obviously he wouldn't know what class he had.
"I'll go check." If I didn't do anything, these idiots would be standing there all day.
I walked to the second floor. The guys followed in their own lazy way. They stayed a few feet behind. You'd think they'd catch up easily since their legs are much longer. Nope, they were just shoving each other against some lockers because obviously they figured they could lose a few more braincells.
When I got to Code's class I figured the fastest way was just to look in. And since there were no windows, I'd have to take a look from the inside.
Without knocking I barged in, asking "Is Code here?"
"Shouldn't you be in class miss?" A middle aged woman with a bad fake tan asked. Her voice made me want to shave my hair so I could strangle myself with it.
"Please don't answer my question with a question." I stated absentmindedly while looking around. A few people were suppressing their laughs while others just looked confused.
"He's not here and you better get back to your own class young lady unless you want detention." The weird teacher lady said.
"He's not? Damn." I said, ignoring the rest of her little rant. "Oh hey Ronan!" I waved when I noticed him sitting there, utterly bored.
"Hi Jill the thrill!" He winked.
"Ronan!" The teacher yelled. She was annoying me already.
"Oops." Ronan answered, earning a few chuckles from the rest of the class. I had almost forgotten he was a jock. Jocks are popular.
"Alright, I'm gonna go before this gets awkward." I said when I heard Snake behind me whisper-yell to 'get the fuck out of there' and to 'remove myself from the situation".
"See you next week Jill!" Ronan said happily. A lot of people looked extremely surprised.
"Fill that jar with candy, Ro." I smirked. Most people were thinking hard, as if I'd made a weird innuendo and they were trying hard to figure it out.
When I closed the door behind me, I turned to see Jake and Snake standing before me with their arms folded across their chest. Jake was tapping his foot annoyingly.
"He's not here." I stated.
"You don't say. Took you long enough." Jake said with an amused glint in his eyes.
"Watch it. I can still tell that creepy teacherlady you're here." I threatened Jake.
"I'll be a good boy." Jake said innocently, making Snake snort.
"No you won't." I raised my eyebrow. Jake did his signature smirk and that was that.
"Alright, let's ditch this place." Snake said.
We had been standing there for so long, talking about random things and wondering if Code was there. We'd been too lazy to actually leave school.
Just when we were nearing the exit the schoolbell rang, indicating school was out.
"What a fail. What a big, big fail. This is just lame." Snake said. He was right.
I started laughing. Hard. The guys looked at me as if I had kissed the pope. The ridiculousness of the situation had hit me hard.
A few seconds later the guys started laughing too. I wasn't sure if they were laughing with me or the situation. Probably both.
"Well, I've got work." Jake said eventually.
"Me too." Snake added.
I dramatically brought the back of my hand to my forehead. "Oh, just leave me like you always do." I whined.
Snake and Jake shared a look, then Jake nodded and they both turned their head towards me with a creepy smile on their faces.
They walked up to me and hugged me. A bone crushing Snake-Jake sandwich.
"Okay okay, leave!" I mumbled against Jake's chest.
When they let go I fake coughed. You know, for emphasis.
"Did you say something or were you trying to eat my delicious chest, Jilly?" Jake wiggled his eyebrows.
"Don't be gross! I was busy dying." I scoffed.
"You died and went to heaven darling." Jake curtsied before he took off on his bike.
After Snake left I decided to go straight to Code's house instead of my own. I could've just texted him to ask him why he didn't invite us to ditch for an entire day but the guy hated technology. There was always a big risk you didn't get a text back until a few days later.
It's very confusing to get a random reply from Code three days after you've sent a text. I usually didn't bother.
When I pulled into the familiar driveway I noticed the car was there. That meant both Code and Chase were home. I didn't mind Chase being home.
The house seemed pretty empty. The guys were probably in their rooms. Even Bus didn't run up to me to greet me. I was disappointed. The little creature and I had bonded a lot recently and now he didn't even have the decency to greet me? Fine. Whatever. See if I care.
I heard something buzz from the kitchen so I followed the noise like a little kid follows the jingle of an ice cream truck.
Okay fine, I followed the noise like I'd follow the jingle of an ice cream truck.
Chase's phone was buzzing but I didn't see anyone in the kitchen. The screen said it was a blocked number. I shrugged and hit the green button.
"Hello?" I didn't bother saying my name since it was probably someone that dialed the wrong number. Maybe I could screw with the person a little.
"Shit." The person on the other end said right before he hung up.
I stared at the phone for a while.
I knew that voice.
All it took was a short little word. It had come out as a hiss almost. But I knew that voice.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks.
"Hey Jill." Chase walked into the kitchen. I was still processing what had just happened to me so it took me a minute to reply.
"Why did Tobin just call you?" I asked. Why the hell was my ex calling my boyfriend?
"I needed to talk to you about that." Chase said with furrowed eyebrows.
"So this has happened before?" I couldn't believe that asshole was harrassing Chase. This was low, even for Tobin.
"Yes, it wasn't the first time he called me but there's more." Chase tried to explain. It wasn't really registering what he was saying. I hadn't expected this.
"Sorry if he's bothering you but I wouldn't worry about it. He's all bark and no bite." I sighed. I had been convinced that the Tobin chapter was over. That guy had become such a pain in my ass.
"I wouldn't say that Jill. The guy has completely lost it." Code appeared with a bowl of Coco puffs. I would've made a joke about the dry cereal if the situation hadn't been this serious.
"What are you talking about?" I was confused. Chase has had multiple calls from Tobin and apparently something else and now Code made it seem that he knew more of it too.
"Well I-"
"Hold up." I interrupted Code. I was getting seriously pissed off.
"Something about my ex has been happening and you guys didn't bother to tell me about it? What the fuck? I'm a big girl, I can handle my own mess okay?" I failed to keep my voice neutral and my hands were balled into fists. Code was looking at them carefully because it was something I only did when I got mad.
"Then let me explain." Code looked tired and Chase looked guilty.
"This is what's going to happen. We're gonna sit down like fucking adults and you guys are gonna explain everything to me. And I mean everything." I pointed towards the living room and didn't make eyecontact with either of the guys.
I couldn't believe they'd just left me out like that. It was my mess to clean.
When I got to the living room, the guys were already sitting next to each other on the sofa. The similar expression on their faces made it evident that the two were brothers.
I grabbed the bowl of Coco puffs and sat down on the coffee table so I was sitting directly in front of them. If they thought that was a weird thing to do, they didn't show.
Before I started speaking I shoved some cereal in my mouth. I needed food. It was so out of the blue and apparently a series of stuff had happened. I had no idea what.
"From the beginning." I stated. My voice a lot calmer now thanks to the food. I was still pissed but I needed to focus on the 온라인카지노게임.
"I guess I'll start then." Code said with a quick glance at Chase. Chase nodded in reply.
"I know Tobin stalked you after you broke up with him. The excessive phone calls and emails and other stuff. And then it stopped all of a sudden. You were relieved but I didn't trust it at all. So I started hanging out with Jacob more often 'cause he's close with Tobin. It was the perfect way to keep an eye on him." Code started to explain.
"Wait. You hang out with Jacob just to keep an eye on Tobin?" I asked incredulously.
"You think I like Jacob for who he is? He's a goatfucker, Jill." Code said with a ghost of a smile on his face.
The 온라인카지노게임 hadn't even started properly and it already felt like I'd had an overload of information. Playing spy was definitely something Code'd do but I'd never expected him to do that for me. He could've just fucking told me.
I sighed.
"Alright so you started hanging out with piglover a little more." I told Code so he could continue with his explanation.
"I did. Tobin was a wreck but Jacob had blocked and deleted your number from his phone. Anyway I almost gave up on hanging out with them until I put something together. Remember months ago when you met this guy at a frat party and Gwen told you she'd seen him with a black eye?" Code asked.
I did remember. The surfer dude. I'd only talked to him and figured he had just walked into a door or something but Gwen had been convinced the bruise was from a fight.
I nodded.
"Well, Tobin's hand was bruised that day. I asked him about it and he told me he had a bad trip and punched a wall."
"It could be true." I told Code. It could've been a coincidence.
"I know. I wanted to give him benefit of the doubt until Jacob let it slip that it wasn't a wall he punched but a guy. I didn't say anything back then but I felt like a fucking detective." Code stated.
"Why didn't you tell me?" So Tobin had punched a guy. Boo fucking hoo.
"Because I wasn't sure and you were getting over him. I wasn't done with Tobin either. I wanted to wait." Code explained.
Seemed like a weak excuse to me but I decided to keep my mouth shut. Two could play that game.
"He started acting weird too. Like he was always on edge, like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. He became obsessed with you Jill. His phone was filled with pictures of you, his wallet had a picture of you. He kept talking about you, he'd ask me a lot about you but I kept it superficial. It was always you you you." Code said with a concerned look on his face.
It did freak me out. I figured after the stalking he'd just moved on with his life.
"During our first date he called me for the first time but I didn't know it back then. The number was blocked and I hadn't picked up." Chase started speaking.
It was hard looking at him because I was angry. He should've told me.
"What else?" I asked.
I gasped. "He slashed your tyres. It was him, wasn't it?"
"He left me a note in one of my textbooks that said 'back off'. It was a stupid thing but it meant he was at my school which was a little creepy. I talked to Code that night and he told me all about it and asked me to not tell you anything yet. I wanted to tell you everything today." Chase explained. It was clear he felt guilty for not telling me right away.
"Alright so punching a guy, leaving notes that doesn't sound too ba-" The note.
"What?" Code asked.
"He put a note in my locker too. I thought it was from Jake because it was a lame poem but Jake told me he didn't do it. It must've been Tobin." Gross, the guy had broken into my locker.
"Probably." Code shrugged.
"But it's not that bad! Aren't you guys exaggerating here? I mean, yes, slashing tyres is pretty bad but still. Notes?"
"And pictures Jill. Don't forget the pictures. The ones on his phone weren't from when you guys were together. They were after. Once he photographed you and Chase together and lost it. Luckily he didn't know I was Chase's brother." Code confessed.
"I'll admit that's creepy but it just shows that the stalking didn't stop when I thought it did." I shrugged. I was creeped out but it was Tobin. He became emotionally unstable but not a psycho creep that'd kill us all.
"There's more." Code stated.
"What?" I asked him.
"It's not my place to tell." Code said sadly. His eyes went to his brother and I followed his gaze.
"Chase?" I was shocked to see the pained look on his face.
"Chase, did he do something to you?" I asked checking him over for any physical signs.
"I'll leave you two." Code gave me a look I couldn't read and went back to the kitchen.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about." Chase took a deep breath.
"Remember when we went to the library together? He was there." Chase looked at me.
He was there.
I remembered waiting for Chase and felt like I was being watched but I figured it was just my imagination. Apparently I was being watched all the time.
"So he saw us doing... What we did?" I don't know why I couldn't say it. Nothing felt private anymore.
"He filmed it."
My jaw almost dropped to the floor. Tobin had filmed Chase and I doing something intimate. It made me sick to my stomach.
"How do you know?" I managed to say.
"He called me earlier today and threatened to show the video to the school staff unless I break up with you."
I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe Tobin had actually gone that far. He had been the sweetest guy.
"You could get expelled." I stated. It wasn't a question, I knew Chase'd get expelled if they'd find out.
"I know. But I'm not breaking up with you either, I'll find a way to-" I held my hand up before Chase could continue.
"This is my mess. I'll fix this." I told him firmly.
"Jill." Chase pleaded.
"No! If you guys would've told me sooner, I might've been able to stop this before it escalated." He had had months to come clean about this but chose not to tell me. Months.
"Code told me not to. But I know how-"
"No." I told Chase. My eyes were getting blurry from the tears but I refused to let them fall. "No you don't know."
I took a deep breath in order to calm myself but it failed.
"Do you remember why Tobin and I broke up? I told you this but maybe you were too drunk to remember." I gritted my teeth. I couldn't cry. I wouldn't cry over this.
"He got distant." Chase said without hesitation, showing me he still remembered.
"He stopped telling me things. He kept things from me. I told myself I wouldn't make that mistake again." I probably looked cold by the looks of Chase's hurt expression.
"Please, this is different." Chase pleaded quietly. His voice barely above a whisper.
"Is it? You kept this from me. You knew why I broke up with my ex and you did the same thing Chase. I don't like being kept in the dark." I didn't know where I was going with this. It felt like I was breaking up with Chase even though I didn't want to.
But hi온라인카지노게임 was repeating itself and I wasn't a fool. I didn't want this to happen again.
Chase is different.
So what? Tobin had been a nice guy too.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have. I really shouldn't have, I just didn't know what to do and Code told me he had it under control. I wanted to believe him." Chase looked me in the eyes and I couldn't stop myself from looking back at him.
He genuinly seemed sorry. Don't they all when they realise it's too late?
"Please don't look at me like that." Chase said silently.
"Like what?" I whispered.
"Like we're done. Like I disappointed you so much that you don't love me anymore." Chase's eyes were getting red. He was trying to keep his tears at bay, just like me.
"Don't be stupid, it takes a while longer to stop yourself from loving someone." I didn't know why I'd said that. It was like my mouth was taking over because my brain went into overdrive.
Chase opened his mouth to say something but changed his mind.
"It won't happen again." Chase said earnestly.
"What?" I asked.
"It won't happen again. I'll never keep you in the dark again. Hell, I'll even tell you when I brush my teeth or go to the bathroom." Chase took my clammy hand in his. "Jill, I'll do anything." He pleaded one last time, it seemed.
Chase is different.
Tobin had never asked for forgiveness. He hadn't even said sorry. Just fake promises that he couldn't keep.
"TMI, Chase. I do not want to know how big your poo is." My voice sounded raspy and I intended to smirk but my face wasn't quite ready for it. I probably looked like a fool.
Chase's eyes lit up like a christmas tree but he didn't say anything.
"Please just kiss me." I told him eventually. I really needed someone to hug me and kiss me and tell me to fuck this guy up that screwed with my life once again. But a kiss would do just fine right now.
Chase didn't hesitate and smashed his lips urgently against mine. He really thought he'd lost me and it was evident in the kiss. It seemed as if he was crying when I felt wet cheeks before I noticed it was me. The salty taste mixed in with the kiss and it probably looked gross.
"If you tell anyone I cried, I will castrate you." I sighed a laugh after I broke the kiss.
"Your secret's safe with me." Chase said while wiping the tears away with his thumb.
Then his expression changed to a serious one and I knew what was gonna come next.
"What are we gonna do with Tobin?" Chase asked.
"Simple." I told him.
"I'm gonna have a chat with Tobin."
