"You're kicking me out of my own house next weekend?" My mom feigned shock. It was Saturday and next Friday would be my birthday.
"Exactly. Unless you wanna join us?" I was bluffing. My mom got along fine with my friends but I knew she'd give me my privacy. She always did.
My dad is a little more apprehensive. He doesn't really believe that the guys are just friends. Then he starts ranting about the fact that he was once a teenage boy too and blah blah blah. My mom sometimes teases me by guessing who I should end up with but she's never serious about that. I hope.
"Tempting but I'd rather drink with people my own age than some horny teenagers. I'll have a girls night with some friends, you have fun and don't break anything, are we clear?" Have fun and be careful. Those were the rules my mom had. Pretty awesome, right? I never really had a curfew or anything.
"I promise and it's only Friday night. We might even go out, I don't know. I don't really have anything planned." If Code hadn't told me I wouldn't have noticed it was my birthday until the day itself or something. Needless to say I had no idea what we were going to do. Just hanging out with friends is all the fun I need I guess.
Oh gross, I'm getting mushy.
"Alright but promise me we'll get a night for ourselves before I have to leave" My mom had to leave to Europe for her presentation a few days after my birthday and she'd be staying for a week. Maybe longer. I'd told her to take a little vacation to celebrate since she'd be in Europe anyway and she was looking into it.
I wanted to say something but someone was at the door. My mom opened the door. "Your hair seems so fluffy! Can I touch it?" I guess Gwen was here.
We were going out in a few hours. Jake had asked me because he needed a wingman. Snake and Code had plans so he had turned to us. It wasn't the first time.
Apparently female wingmen - eh, wingwomen? - were more effective. We have more credibility. I just say we have more talent.
So Gwen and I were going to get ready and then we were walking to Jake's place. He lives closest to Cambridge so we were crashing there tonight. I had to remember to ask him to give me his key because let's be honest here, it wasn't certain he'd sleep at his own place tonight.
And even with Gwen it wasn't certain so I'd be the keykeeper.
"Wanna come with us tonight?" I heard Gwen ask my mom. That's my cue to intervene. Going out with my mom? Great! Going to a frat party with my mom? Oh God no.
"I think I'll pass" I headed to the door where the conversation was happening.
"Come on, you're totally a milf. When's the last time you had a guy in your bed?" Okay. Too far. I did not need to hear about that.
"Gwen. Just... no" She turned around and smiled when she saw me staring at her with a horrified look on my face.
"Too long but that doesn't mean I'm desperate" My mom shrugged. It's true, the last guy she'd brought home was Mike and that was two years ago I think? He was a dickhead anyway.
"Ooh maybe in Europe you can-" Gwen started talking while wiggling her eyebrows.
"Nope! We're not talking about my mom's sex life okay I'm not drunk enough" I grabbed her arm and started to push her towards the stairs.
"Then let's talk about yours, it's pretty nonexistent too you know" My mom snorted at Gwen's comment.
"Oh really? I hadn't noticed" I rolled my eyes and we went upstairs.
"Your mom's so cool. If I'd have that kind of conversation with my own mom she'd flip out. I think she wants to believe I'm saving myself for marriage" We burst out laughing. Gwen was anything but a sweet innocent girl.
"You know what they say, ignorance is bliss. Now where's the booze?" I was thirsty.
Gwen grinned "I didn't have time to buy something so I just grabbed some expensive wine from home" That would do. The cheap wine always gave me headaches.
"I feel like I haven't been drunk in ages" Gwen moped.
"Me too. Oh wait, no. Last week" I shrugged and opened the bottle of wine. We were drinking from the bottle because we're classy.
"Oh yeah with Code's brother. What's up with that anyway?" I didn't know. It was just an impulsive idea to watch TV and drink. If Code had been home none of that would've happened.
"No idea. I was going to Code's but he wasn't there and Chase invited me to stay. I was about to say no but he said he was gonna watch Game of Thrones and you know how passionate I am about that show." And then we told each other stuff we hadn't told anyone else before. I decided to leave that part out.
"Huh. So now the important question: is he hot? I always figured he was a dork" I laughed. Of course that was the most important question.
Was he? He was okay I guess. Sometimes he reminded me of Code but he wasn't cute like Code, Chase looked more rugged. Although the time I'd seen him shirtless, well, that was definitely hot. It's weird I'd never noticed since I'd known Chase for years now. Well, not known but known of Chase.
"He's kinda hot I guess. But don't get me wrong, he's still a dork" I guess that was the most accurate description I could give Gwen.
"A hot nerd? Sexy" I snorted.
"So what are you wearing?" Gwen didn't really ask me it was just her excuse to walk to my closet and snoop. Most of the time she'd choose an outfit for me. I was fine with that. I mean, they were my clothes so I obviously liked them.
She tossed a few clothing items my way and I started changing into them. She'd picked a high waisted red plaid skirt and an ACDC crop top. I'd never worn these items together before but it looked fine.
"What d'ya think?" I asked her.
"I was going for hot rock chick and I succeeded" She had a cocky grin on her face.
"Gwen, I'm always a hot rock chick" I smirked. I went over to my shoes to see which one fit best with this outfit.
"Well, you're always hot but the genre changes every day" She winked at me. Sometimes I get the feeling she's the female version of Jake but I pushed that thought away quickly.
I went with black pumps that were covered with some edgy looking straps to complete the look. I loved these shoes but they made my feet hurt. Sacrifices were being made.
Gwen was wearing a tight fitted vertically black-white striped dress with cotton candy pink heels to match her hair. She always dressed to kill when we went out.
I did my makeup like usual when I went out and so did Gwen. Although she kept the cotton candy pink theme going with her lips.
By the time we were finished the bottle was too. Talk about timing.
I grabbed my stuff, said goodbye to my mom and changed my shoes. We were walking to Jake's so I'd put the heels on when we got there. I didn't want to suffer more than necessary.
Gwen did the same.
When we'd arrived, Jake opened the door
"You guys look hot" He grinned while letting us in.
His house was small but cosy. His little sister wasn't home unfortunately. He has a nine year old sister, Emma, and she's the most adorable thing ever. She likes to tease Jake, so I help her.
For some reason Emma likes me. I never hang out with kids since I'm an only child and everything so I had no idea how to handle kids. I guess little Emma likes my dry humor. Or my evil plotting schemes against Jake. Yep, thats probably it.
"Let's go crash some parties!" Jake yelled while we were heading towards Cambridge.
"Parties? As in more than one?" I asked. I just figured we were going to one college party.
"Yep, my sources told me that there are two big parties going on so let's go to both" Jake beamed. He was definitely looking forward to this. He looked good and he knew it. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a simple tshirt that fit him well.
"Sure!" Gwen clapped her hands. Yeah, this night was much needed for all of us.
The first party was already in full force when we arrived. A lot of making out and drinking. Not necessarily in that order. Jake immediately disappeared on us but came back a minute later with three red cups.
Nothing better than some cheap beer.
"Okay, I'm off, text me when we're going to the next party" Gwen said. And then there were two.
Jake was looking around silently to see who his new victims were. I had to stay put because I'd promised him to be a wingwoman. Plus, sometimes it's very entertaining.
"There, the blonde one" Jake pointed to his right. I spotted two girls talking to each other. The brunette was laughing about something but the blonde wasn't really feeling it. She just chugged her drink.
Meaning she was probably mad or sad about something and came to the party to make bad decisions. Easy target. Jake could do better but oh well.
"Okay, give me a few minutes alone with them" I winked and headed to them.
"Good luck" Jake shouted.
"I don't need luck" I smirked. Jake laughed and shook his head.
We really didn't need luck. Jake didn't even need help but we just did it because it was a fun thing to do.
I grabbed an extra cup for the blonde and went over to her.
"Hi, I'm Jill. Look I usually don't do this but you looked like you needed one. Or seven." I gave her a small, insecure smile and handed her the cup.
The blonde turned around to face me. She looked very surprised to say the least.
"Eh thanks. It's not spiked or anything right?" She looked me over. You know, from head to toe and then back. Classical girl move.
"Don't worry I don't swing that way" I gave her a wink. She smiled and accepted the cup. It was empty a few seconds later. Wow. She had it worse than I'd thought.
"Sorry, I'm just having a bad day. My name's Cindy by the way" We shook hands. She seemed like a decent girl. She looked cute in a Barbie kinda way.
"Nothing a few drinks and a hot guy can't fix" She looked around to see if she could spot any guys she was interested in.
"I really need a hot guy." She sighed and Jake walked by to get some more drinks, conveniently walking past us. Very smooth.
"Well hello" Cindy said when she spotted Jake. This was just too easy.
"Oh you mean Jake?" I took another sip from my drink. I needed something stronger.
"You know him?" Cindy turned around to face me. I could see she was getting excited. I'm clearly not needed here to help them along.
"Yeah, we had a thing once but it didn't work out because he doesn't do relationships. But he's a great stress reliever if you know what I mean" Not true people, not true! This was Jill the wingwoman speaking.
Before Cindy could reply I gestured for Jake to come over. "This one's too easy" I whispered in his ear and he laughed in reply.
Then he shot Cindy one of his sexy smirks and I swear her ovaries just exploded. Yeah, I'm outta here before things get crazy.
"Jill! I didn't know you were going to be here" a familiar voice behind me said. I turned around to see a smiling Chase and one of his friends.
Chase was wearing navy converse, a pair of jeans and a fitted dark blue shirt that went well with his eyes. His friend looked pretty cute too. He was wearing the same, only the color was black. His hair was dirty blonde and his eyes brown. It looked like he hadn't shaved in a few days.
"Chase! It's weird seeing you out of your normal habitat" I grinned mischievously. His friend laughed at this.
"Wait, is she the jelly bean girl?" He asked Chase. He wanted to reply but I interrupted him.
"Why yes, I am the legendary jelly bean girl" Chase rolled his eyes.
"I'm Nate, I feel like I should bow to you" I already liked this guy.
I beamed at him "I'm not stopping you"
"Alright don't boost her confidence, she has enough of that" Chase said and then contiued drinking from his red cup.
"Your drink is almost empty, I'll get you a new one your highness" Nate smirked at me and headed to the table were all the drinks were. Yes, I definitely liked him already.
"So what're you doing here Jilly bean?" I laughed. Jilly bean? Clever. Maybe I should call him Centipede or something. Okay, no, that would be too harsh. My new mission was to find him a good nickname by the end of the night.
"I'm being Jake's wingwoman and as you can see I'm doing an amazing job since Jake's not here. We're heading to another party soon I think." I couldn't spot Jake anywhere. What can I say? The guy moved fast.
"Yeah this is the lame party. We're here until the good party get's started properly" I didn't think this was a lame party to be honest. My expectations for the other party just increased alot.
"I didn't put as much rape drug in it than I usually do since you're awesome" Nate was back and handed me another cup. We burst out laughing. That was a horrible joke and he knew it.
It wasn't beer though. I tasted it carefully. Then I took another sip. The guys were watching me, wondering what I was doing.
"So I'm guessing this is cheap vodka, am I right? But I taste something else. I'm afraid it's vodka with water, damn you poor students" I took another drink.
"Cool party trick" Nate said.
In the next hour I ended up playing beer pong with Chase against Nate and some other guy I didn't know. After that I lost the guys and went to look for Gwen but finding Jake instead.
At some point we went to the other party. We were all a bit buzzed by then.
The new party was pretty amazing. A lot more choice in drinks, they even had cockatils and boy do I love my cocktails. It was packed too.
"Hey isn't that Michael?" Gwen asked me all of a sudden. Who was Michael? I looked around and noticed a blonde mop of hair. Oh Michael! I remember him!
I nodded enthusiastically. What? I was tipsy okay?
"Hey Michael!" I yelled. He turned around and his eyes went wide when he spotted me. Not exactly the reaction I was looking for.
"Oh h-hi. I was just leaving, good seeing you, bye!" He said in one breath and then went away. He was almost running away. Weird guy.
"What was that all about?" Gwen asked. She looked just as confused as me.
"No idea" I shrugged.
"At least his eye is healing just fine. Let's get another drink" Now that she mentioned that, he did have a shadow below his eye. That's what you get for running into a door.
That was my theory. The door hit him in the face. I started laughing.
When you're fuzzy from alcohol you just have your own little party inside your head.
"Shots!" Jake yelled and grabbed Gwen and I. They were rounding up some tequila shots.
-
I woke up and it felt like a moshpit was happening inside of my head. I groaned. Make it stop. My mouth felt as if it was filled with cotton wool balls. Yep, definitely hung over.
What even happened last night? The last thing I remember were tequila shots and then everything went hazy.
I slowly opened my eyes but closed them immediately after. The light was too bright. Let's try that again. I took in my surroundings.
Crap.
Where the hell was I?
I looked around. Not home. Not Jake's house. Crap.
Then I noticed I was in my underwear and Jake was sleeping next to me, wearing only his boxers. We were on a couch and Gwen was sleeping on the floor next to us.
Well, whatever happened, at least I know we didn't have sex. I was pretty sure of that.
Suddenly I felt something in my mouth. No, not vomit. Something weird. Something I couldn't place. Oh my god what was wrong with me?!
Jake groaned "Stop fidgeting. Oh it's you Jill" He slowly opened his eyes and I could see it had hurt him too. I guess his memory wasn't intact either.
Who cares anyway? I was freaking out.
"Jake something is weird. I need to go to the restroom" I jumped up and opened the first door I could find. Jackpot. Thank God dorms weren't big.
I heard muffled voices coming from outside. I guess Gwen had woken up too.
"Shit" I muttered when I looked at my reflection. I looked like shit. My eyes were a nice shade of panda and I looked very pale. I quickly washed my face.
I was afraid to open my mouth. Something felt seriously wrong. Come on Jill, just open your freaking mouth.
I started laughing. Seriously? This was just stupid. I couldn't stop laughing at this point.
Gwen and Jake went to look what was going on.
"What's wrong? Oh my God, can alcohol actually kill brain cells?!" Gwen looked a bit panicked. I couldn't answer because I was still laughing. Tears were running down my cheeks.
When I could finally breathe again I was looking at a very confused Jake and Gwen.
"You know how people always get tattoos when they're drunk?" It's such a cliche but it really did happen alot.
"Did you get one? That's so hot! Show us!" Jake looked like an excited puppy.
I wish. Tattoos are cool, I like them. I mean, I'd probably think about the design first but even a drunk tattoo would be cool. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
"Nope. I got a fucking piercing instead" I started laughing again. Someone pushed a needle through my body and I couldn't even remember. The only piercings I had were in my ears. I had quite a few of those.
A few years ago I had this phase. I wanted a lip ring. I'm glad I never got one.
"Where?" Gwen asked and Jake was looking me over. Great, the guy was probably expecting one in my nipple or something.
I stuck my tongue out to reveal the little piece of metal. It still felt weird. You'd expect to have a lisp or something but I didn't. You couldn't see it either, unless I showed people my tongue.
I'm actually okay with it. It's just so fucking stupid to get your tongue pierced when you're drunk.
Gwen gasped and Jake looked happy when they spotted the piercing.
"That's pretty hot Jill" Jake stated.
"Are you kidding me? That's awesome! Why didn't we get anything?" Gwen turned to Jake who just shrugged.
"Maybe I wasn't even with you guys. I mean, I don't really remember much from last night" I tried to think but there was just a big black hole in my memory.
"Yeah me neither" Gwen said and Jake was scratching the back of his neck. Apparently he didn't remember much either.
"Where are you guys?" Someone yelled. Who was that? Probably the owner of this dorm room. Gwen and Jake looked as shocked as I felt.
"In here!" Jake yelled. Gwen slapped him. Yeah, because if he was a serial killer he'd never find us, right?
Someone opened the door slowly.
"Why are you all in here?" I looked up. It was Nate. Was this his room?
"Nate!" I was relieved.
"You know him? Oh good." Gwen was clearly relieved. She was standing behind Jake like a little kid that was afraid of strangers.
"Yeah you guys were pretty out of it last night. I repeat; why are you all in here?" He looked amused. We all went to the couch where we'd slept in last night.
"They were admiring my new tongue piercing" I deadpanned.
"I didn't know you had a tongue piercing" Nate said.
I snorted "Neither did I"
"Oh" Nate looked shocked.
"Please tell me you know what happened last night? Oh my name's Gwen by the way" She was asking the question everyone wanted to know.
"I know. We met last night. I don't know much but when I found you guys you were all taking shots and Jill said she needed it to numb her tongue. Now I know why. Anyway you wanted to head back to Jake's but you couldn't even walk without falling down so Chase and I helped you to my dorm and you all fell asleep immediately."
The last thing I remembered were shots. So my guess is somewhere in between I went away to get my tongue pierced and got back to continue with the shots. That's random.
I grabbed my clothes and started looking for a receipt or something before I changed into them. I kinda forgot I was still in my underwear.
I didn't find a receipt near my clothes but I did find a note in my bra. Classy Jill.
Call me if your tongue gets infected. Brad
With a number scribbled underneath.
Just a random note? Did that mean some random guy had pierced my tongue?
I gave the note to Nate. Maybe he knew Brad.
"Oh yeah, I know Brad. His brother owns a tattoo and piercing parlor and Brad works there sometimes. I'm guessing he did this to you" Nate handed me the note back.
I guess that's one mystery solved.
"Okay... If you see Brad tell him I said thank you I guess?" What do you say in these kinds of situations anyway?
Nate chuckled "Will do"
A few minutes later Gwen, Jake and I were walking back home. Very slow paced.
"We should totally do that again soon" Jake said. I think he wanted to sound enthusiastic but didn't have enough energy to do so.
We definitely should.
