A/N: Image to the side is by the VERY talented Canadian artist Alison Acton and she is hilarious. I recommend her comic Bear Nuts because it is so very funny and so very not right sometimes.

Gideon could tell by the smell of her kids' sleep that she had only been back in the House for an hour at the most. After recovering the injured Luna and pulling Peter back out of his Wendigo self, Doctor Cyr had known that Gideon needed to run herself out before she could be near others again. It was the cost she paid to use her Fury without ever giving in to the kill, and he understood how she would appreciate privacy while she pushed herself to physical collapse. Only then could she crawl back to where others were and pretend to be as normal as they were for a while longer.

With an hour of rest in her after a rather full day of events, Gideon found herself graceless for the first time in a long while. Walking into the boy's side of the House to wake Peter, her shuffled feet didn't quite clear the lip of the floor and Gideon went down, too tired to even brace right for her impact with the floor. Gideon's groan was muffled under the sounds of four teenaged boys waking up in various stages of startlement. From Ankou (who seemed to be a disturbingly heavy sleep) and his grunt, to Virgil waking up as she opened the door, and then he burst into laughter as her face hit the floor.

Met you your match. Gideon's Fury chittered in her head, and Gideon pushed herself up into a seated position, irritated to find her nose broken and bleeding. Holding her hand to her face, Gideon mumbled under her breath while the boys in her intake scrambled out of thier beds to check on her. It seemed to startled all four of them, and Head Councillor Hasselberry when Gideon growled at them all when they got too close to her and her spilled blood. Thankfully Head Councillor Hasselberry started to direct the boys back into bed, though he did instruct Peter to wait outside.

"Can you get me some bleach?" Gideon asked, her voice muffled while she held her nose. She had seen the way Ankou had watched her blood pool on the floor boards, and with her Fury in ascention, Gideon couldn't help but notice the potential danger. Sometimes she could talk herself into feeling like a normal Portentum, but then there were days like today and Gideon was once again brought back to reality. She couldn't get a cut or a hairstyle without some interesting safety procautions. Her blood, her hair, and at one point in time her touch, were all death. She'd learned to tone down a lot of that since being a child, but her life was lived best in caution and paranoia.

Of course none of that helped when Virgil pulled her to her feet and she saw him boldly suck some of her blood off of his finger. The growl rumbled low in Gideon's throat again, a warning that cut off when Fred Hasselberry came back in. Her logical, in control brain registered that Fred had the bleach she asked for and Gideon made use of it while the primal part of her brain was thinking.

For the next few days, Gideon would be hyperaware of her instinctive side, and it would be awkward and uncomfortable until her Primal side settled down. While she was stuck with a peanut gallery though, Gideon was going to be a might be jumpier than usual. Definitely not a mere mortal Empath if our blood has no adverse affects, Fury side mused. And because that part of her was so close to the surface, Gideon had no real warning that her Furyside was going to purposefully send a jolt out that made even Virgil flinch.

"Just because it's not in my body anymore doesn't make it any safer to play with." Gideon warned to Virgil, voice softer than cobwebs.

"Promises, promises." Virgil breathed back and then Gideon walked away, fighting with her Fury half. The dark voice in her brain very much wanted to go back and continue what looked like a very fun way to pass the time. But Gideon's sense of duty was far stronger and instead she walked with Hasselberry to go visit Luna. Peter walked quickly ahead, and without a word stopping him, both Councillors watched as he broke into a jog, and then a run, suddenly needing to be there already.

Gideon and Hasselberry shared a look. This wasn't the first time a pair had found love amongst the wreckage. It wouldn't be the last time either, though the specifics of these two made both Gideon and Fred worry. Heartbreak for either one could spell a murderous rampage, and yet the potential for them to go far with the support they got from the other.... It might just be worth it. "So...." Fred started off awkwardly and Gideon wondered for a moment if he was going to hit on her. He'd maintained a professional relationship thus far, but this summer seemed to be the hardest on him yet. Probably because she was finally a legal adult and he felt the age constraint ease. And then he found the courage to finish what he wanted to say and Gideon found herself reassessing him once again. "So.... you and Virgil then huh?" he asked, clearing his throat.

Gideon shook her head but shrugged. "I'm not doing anything to risk my placement here. There's too much I still too much I can do to help to be stupid." she started to explain. "Besides, I don't buy his 온라인카지노게임." she shook her head, eyes bleeding black as her Fury surfaced a little more.

Fred noticed her eyes darkening and managed to suppress his shudder. He'd known what she was, had read her file and been fascinated by her 온라인카지노게임 since he came to work here himself. She was like all Fury, a construct with no family, and no real sense of social belonging. They're raised to be aggressive, violent and solitary. So when he came to work here two years ago and found Gideon like she is now.... he didn't believe it at first. Couldn't believe that she was capable of being a good person. Time and again she proved everyone wrong, showing them that she was so much more than just the myths and supersticions presented. But yesterday... yesterday he had seen her with some of her darkness loose and it had broken his interest in her. Not that he didn't find her any less appealing for being what she was, but he knew now that he would never stand a chance of containing her should she loose it, and that made it impossible for him to court her.

"I don't buy his 온라인카지노게임 either, but Doctor Cyr pushed for him to be here, and made sure we were stuck with him." Fred finally said something outloud, realizing that his internal thoughts had let the pause drag on too long.

Gideon didn't seem to notice his internal struggling, instead she'd come to a stop and was staring outward, eyes unfocused. The black from her pupil had already dominated her schlera and now Fred openly shook as he saw it creep under her skin like it had last night. "The Punt.... it looks different." Gideon's voice had gone seductive, a warning sign that told Fred that she wasn't as safe to be around as he liked to assume.

"Maybe the dragon should know that." Head Councillor Hasselberry suggested, trying to get the Fury walking again. She blinked and looked at him, her control painfully evident as he saw the black quickly recede from her skin and eyes, being sucked back down to the hidden depths of her soul.

"I will, but first one of my kids needs me. Thank you for coming to get me, I appreciate that you get even less sleep than I do, so I won't keep you awake." Gideon deflected and Fred felt a vague sense of dismissal on her very polite words. He smirked, nodding his head as he realized that he deserved no less. He'd doubted her and she'd seen it, and yet she wasn't offended. Frowning as the Fury walked on passed him, Fred realized that impossibly the young woman looked tired. He'd seen her go neigh a week without sleep and she looked energetic as ever, but for just a moment, she looked exhausted. Then the Fury was out of sight and he had no choice but to shake off that image and go to bed, exhausted himself.

Gideon let Peter have as much time alone with Luna as she felt necessary, and then rapped on the door softly. The energy signatures inside parted, and although Gids knew nothing sexual had gone on, she couldn't help but smirk at Peter's blush. Since Luna was a female and feline lycanthrope, the easiest and best way to comfort her was simply to cuddle her. However as that was part and parital with frat, Peter wasn't risking being seperated from Luna, even for a day. Gideon kept the approving smile off of her face and promised herself that she would take Peter out to the woods tonight and show him how to maintain his control even while.... under emotional duress. She wouldn't get intimate with the boy, but with the Incubus Luc, she had a couple of non-awkward options. And it would do both boys some good.

Adding it to her list of things to talk with the dragon about, Gideon smiled at the obviously drugged Luna. The cat girl blinked her huge eyes, the nictating membrane slowly peeling away as her system was bogged down with restorative drugs. Without wholly understanding what her normally blood thirsty self was up to, Gideon walked over to the bed side and hugged Luna carefully. Her nose tanged at the scent of a mistreated wound and the very drugged state of the cat girl made sense. The three kids that had done this weren't necessarily witches. All one needs to participate in Black Magic is a bit of magical heritage in the blood, and the know-how. Someone here had to have given those kids the ritual for the containment spell, and since they had gone after her fur specifically, Gideon had a suspicion on whom had orchestrated this. But the mastermind hadn't actually participated and that made finding proof near impossible.

What those three sickos had managed to do was scar a young girl, get the wound incredibly dirty and then they were handed over to the police by Doctor Cyr himself. He had been a fire breathing dragon at the time still, too so it was an image that they would hold onto for the rest of their lives.

Luna hugged Gideon back, seeming surprised at the affection. Sitting on the edge of the bed, Gideon smiled. "So are you going to introduce me to your boyfriend and hero?" she teased lightly and recognized the quiver in Luna's ears as a lycanthrope blush. Peter's face just flamed red. "All teasing aside, I'm glad you asked for me." Gideon's teasing comment had broken the heavy tension in the air. "First of all, I wanted to let you know that neither one of you are in trouble. At all. You both acted commendably from what we've been able to piece together. If you decide you don't want to stay Luna, you are more than free to go home for a while and return if and when you feel ready. However, I think there might be a few compelling reasons for you to stay...." Gideon winked, looking over at Peter with an obvious conspiratorial smirk. "Secondly I wanted you to know that the three that attacked you are gone. Their Councillor is on probabtion and both the dragon, Doctor Cyr, and I will be making sure that nothing like this could ever occur again."

Luna blinked up at her again, eyes still showing her fear and her pain, but also the first signs of her internal spark. That flare you can only see when both sides of a person are in accord with each other. It startled Gideon that this frail girl had found her sense of self only after a brutal attack, but it showed how strong she really was inside. "They aren't making me run." Luna said softly, looking away from Gideon's gaze. It was a softly spoken declaration but that didn't decrease it's potency one iota.

How interesting. The Fury half spoke up, as if Gideon really needed the peanut gallery.

"No, they really aren't are they?" Gideon asked rhetorically, knowing that she still had a lot of ground to metaphorically cover before this girl was the proud freak she would one day become, and althoguh she wasn't able to see the future, Gideon had absolute faith that Luna would get there. One day.
