After finishing his work, Akash left Abhimanyu's cabin, leaving only Abhimanyu and Rakshit behind.
"How's your married life going," asked Abhimanyu to Rakshit, making him sigh in defeat.
"I don't know," said Rakshit in a tired tone.
"What do you mean by 'don't know'. Either it's progressing or it's not," said Abhimanyu, rolling his eyes.
"Mujhe nahi pata ki jo hum dono ke bich chal raha hai usse me progress keh sakta hu ya nahi," said Rakshit, thinking about everything that had happened in this one week of his marriage.
(I don't know if what's going on between us can even be called progress or not.)
"You both still live in different rooms?" asked Abhimanyu, already aware of the arrangement. Rakshit simply nodded in confirmation.
"Why, Rakshit? Mujhe abhi bhi samajh nahi aata ki tum dono ka alag alag rooms me rehne ka kya logic hai," asked Abhimanyu, his tone slightly frustrated.
(I still don't get the logic of you two living in separate rooms.)
"I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, isliye I gave her the choice and she chose to live in a different room , now I can't do anything about that, yaar," said Rakshit, clearly frustrated with the situation.
(that's why)
"You know, it's about the situation. Just imagine tu akela nahi rehta hota , then you would've lived with her in the same room, right? Maybe out of pressure or some other reason , but you would have," said Abhimanyu, offering a perspective to his best friend.
(if you weren't living alone)
"It's about the situation only that we are married, Rathore," said Rakshit matter-of-factly.
"Kuch bhi reason tha , but now you both have decided to give it a try na , to kya dikkat hai," asked Abhimanyu, making Rakshit sigh again.
(Whatever the reason was , but now that you've both decided to give this a chance, then what's the issue?)
"I can't just go and directly ask her to stay with me in the same room, right?" said Rakshit, more like asking.
"You can , and you should. Rakshit, tum dono ko lag raha hoga progress ho rahi hai lekin actually me nahi ho rahi hai. At a point tumhari yh progress bas ek jgh jakar ruk jayegi.Ek husband-wife ke rishte me spark, pyaar, understanding sab kuch saath rehne se hi aata hai , sirf 3 baar saath me khana khane se nahi," said Abhimanyu, trying to make Rakshit understand.
(Rakshit, you both might feel there's progress but in reality there isn't, At one point, your progress will just stop at one place. In a husband-wife relationship, the spark, love, and understanding come from staying together-not just from eating together a few times.)
"Kuch motivational bata de bhai taaki thodi himmat aa jaye usse puchne ki," said Rakshit, making Abhimanyu chuckle.
(Say something motivational, bro, so I get the courage to ask her.)
"Okay, yours will be considered an arranged marriage in a broader sense. Apne ghar me abhi tak bas 2 hi arranged marriages hui hain-meri aur Akash ki. Now it's 3, because you're also part of the arranged marriage gang," said Abhimanyu.
(Till now, there have been only two arranged marriages in our house- mine and Akash's.)
"Yeh sab mujhe pata hai , isse useless information ka kya karu main," said Rakshit, glaring at his best friend.
(I already know all this , What should I do with this useless info?)
"Pura sunega tu , bolne to de pura , pehle hi kach-kach chalu kar di," said Abhimanyu, making Rakshit gesture for him to continue.
(Will you listen to it all first , let me speak fully , you already started bickering.)
"I know where my clothes are and I can pick out my outfits on my own , but I love when Sakshi takes them out for me. That's the time of the day when I enjoy a little mischief with her, she gets annoyed, blushes a little, scolds me slightly , but still spends ten minutes so I look good. That's when I feel that true, homely husband-wife vibe. Same goes for Akash , he knows where his wallet and watch are, but he loves it when Naina finds them for him. Then he teases her, steals a few kisses and hugs. That's the time he feels like a truly married man," said Abhimanyu with a smile.
Listening to this, even Rakshit smiled-these were things everyone knew about both couples.
"Main bas yeh samjhana chahta hu tujhe ki saath rehne se bohot saari aisi choti choti cheezein hoti hain jo actually ek relationship ko strong karti hain , ek feeling deti hain , vo ghar wali vibe deti hain. You'll feel totally different when you wake up every day and she's sleeping beside you , you'll feel happiness, Rakshit. It's just a matter of asking once. What's the worst that could happen , she'll say no? Then work on making her comfortable. But at least ask once and start," said Abhimanyu, making Rakshit sigh and drift into deep thought.
(I just want to tell you that living together creates many small moments that actually strengthen the relationship, it gives that homely feeling,)
"I'll ask her , but I think aaj to Ishita ghar par hi nahi hongi raat mein," said Rakshit, suddenly remembering.
(Ishita won't be home tonight.)
"Bhabhi kahin ja rahi hai kya?" asked Abhimanyu, confused.
(Is Bhabhi going somewhere?)
"Bhai tu bhool gaya shayad, lekin mera saala bagal wale ghar mein rehta hai. Aur aaj bhaisahab ko apni behen ki yaad aa rahi hai, so Ishita is going to stay with him tonight. I don't know whether she'll come back or stay there," said Rakshit, rolling his eyes, making Abhimanyu laugh.
(Brother, you may have forgotten, but my brother-in-law lives in the house next door. And today Bhaisahab is missing his sister.)
"Dukh to sahi hai tere jeevan mein... pata chale tujhse fast Ishaan nikal jaye aur Shivangi bhi pata kar le jaaye vo, aur tum dono alag rooms mein hi reh jao," said Abhimanyu, laughing.
(There's definitely sorrow in your life, what if Ishaan and Shivangi end up together before you even shift into the same room.)
"What is this scene between Ishaan and Shivangi? Mujhe abhi bhi samajh nahi aaya kuch," asked Rakshit, genuinely confused.
(I still haven't understood any of it.)
"Mujhe bhi sab kuch to nahi pata , but he came one day to me and asked if he could take Shivangi out. He admitted clearly that he likes her , so I couldn't bring myself to deny him," said Abhimanyu with a soft smile, recalling the day Ishaan approached him.
(I don't know everything either)
"Tujhe lagta hai kuch chalega in dono ka , like future hai ya aise hi bas?" asked Rakshit.
(You think they have a future , or it's just casual?)
"I think they have a future. A strong one. Because what I see is-Ishaan is damn honest, man. Also, he's a good guy , successful , and if Shivu is happy with him, then I have no objection," said Abhimanyu, still smiling.
"Woh tujhse permission kyu maangta hai? Akash se bhi to maang sakta hai," asked Rakshit, remembering the call.
(Why does he ask your permission? He could ask Akash too.)
"He doesn't want me to ever doubt his intentions. That's why he asks me. Also, according to what Akash told me, Ishaan doesn't really ask him for permission-he just tells him openly. It's only formal when he comes to me," said Abhimanyu.
Just then, Rakshit's phone rang. 'Ish💗' flashed on the screen, making Abhimanyu smirk.
"Hello," said Rakshit, picking up the call, completely ignoring Abhimanyu's teasing smirk.
"Where are you, Rakshit? Your PA said you are not in the office," asked Ishita, now sitting comfortably in Rakshit's cabin.
"I am at Rathore Co. actually," said Rakshit.
"Are you coming for lunch or not?" asked Ishita, a little disappointed, expecting they would eat lunch together like every day.
"I'm coming. Just wait for me. It'll only take me five minutes," said Rakshit with a smile, since Abhimanyu's office was very close to his.
"Okay , come fast. Bhookh lag rahi hai mujhe," said Ishita with a pout.
(I'm hungry.)
Rakshit chuckled and hung up after saying, "I'm coming."
"Ishhh haan," said Abhimanyu with a teasing grin, making Rakshit roll his eyes.
"Tu bhabhi ko jaan bolta hai , maine kabhi kuch kaha?" said Rakshit.
(You call Bhabhi 'jaan' , have I ever said anything?)
"Main uske mooh par bolta hoon , tu bata, tune kabhi bola bhabhi ko 'Ish'?" asked Abhimanyu with a knowing smirk.
(I say it on her face , tell me, have you ever called her 'Ish'?)
"Jis din himmat hogi uss din usse bhi bol dunga , abhi ke liye usse same room mein rehne ke liye bol doon, wahi bohot hai. Mera dil ek din mein ek cheez hi handle kar payega," said Rakshit with a slight blush, making Abhimanyu chuckle.
(The day I get the courage, I'll call her that too , for now, asking her to shift into the same room is enough. My heart can only handle one thing a day.)
"Bye , love you," said Rakshit as he hugged Abhimanyu and gave a quick peck on his cheek, which Abhimanyu returned with, "Love you too."
✨
Rakshit walked into his cabin to find his wife comfortably sitting in his head chair, scrolling through her phone, making him smile.
"Ma'am, do you want coffee or something?" said Rakshit in a teasing tone.
"Haan , pati chahiye mujhe mera," said Ishita mindlessly, without even looking up.
(Yes , I want my husband.)
Realisation hit her the next moment, and her gaze snapped to the door-only to find Rakshit leaning against it with a teasing smirk.
"Sorry , main toh bas aise hi maze maze mein baith gayi aapki chair par," said Ishita with a sheepish smile.
(Sorry , I just sat on your chair for fun.)
She was about to get up, fearing his reaction, but he stopped her by gently pressing her shoulders back down onto the chair, leaving her stunned.
"Baithi reh , tera hi hai sab kuch z tujhe kisi se darne ki ya permission lene ki zarurat nahi yahan baithne ke liye , not even mine," said Rakshit, standing in front of her, leaning on his desk.
(Stay seated , everything here is yours , you don't need to fear or take anyone's permission to sit here , not even mine.)
"So , kya chahiye tha tujhe? Pati haan , kya karna hai pati ka?" asked Rakshit with a teasing smile, pulling her chair closer to himself.
(So , you wanted a husband, huh? What do you want to do with him?)
"Lunch karna hai pati ke saath , bhookh lag rahi hai mujhe," said Ishita with a pout, making Rakshit smile.
(I want to have lunch with my husband , I'm hungry.)
"Order kiya tune kuch abhi tak?" asked Rakshit, suddenly remembering that Sunita aunty was on leave today.
(Did you order anything yet?)
"Kab ka , wahan dekho , bas aapka hi intezaar tha," said Ishita with a wide smile, pointing toward the couch.
(Long ago , look there , I was just waiting for you.)
The food was already placed on the table in front of the couch. Rakshit offered his hand, which she gladly took, and the two moved toward the couch and settled beside each other.
"Ishita , are you going to the Rawat house today?" asked Rakshit.
"Haan , bhai said he is missing me , so I'm going. Will have dinner with him only," said Ishita, fully engrossed in her food.
"Are you going to stay there tonight, or are you coming back home?" asked Rakshit.
"Pata nahi , but kyun? Kuch kaam tha aapko?" asked Ishita.
(Don't know , why? You needed something?)
Rakshit just shook his head and continued with their lunch, all while Ishita filled him in on office updates and gossip.
"By the way , what about your dinner? Aaj Sunita aunty bhi nahi aayi , aap Rawat Mansion hi aa jana dinner karne," said Ishita, suddenly realising.
(Come have dinner at Rawat Mansion since aunty is also not coming today.)
"Actually, I'm going out with Abhimanyu, Abhinav, and Vihaan. So we'll eat outside. You go ahead and enjoy," said Rakshit, remembering the dinner plan with his friends.
"Chalo , time khatam ho gaya lunch ka , main chali, nahi toh sab doubt karenge," said Ishita, as she got up to leave but was stopped by Rakshit, who held her hand from behind.
"Kya hua , kuch chahiye aapko?" asked Ishita, confused.
(What happened , do you need something?)
"Ek hug," said Rakshit innocently, making Ishita smile as she hugged him tightly. He smiled too.
(One hug,)
"Ishita , ek baat bolni thi," said Rakshit, still holding her close.
(Ishita, I wanted to say something.)
"Haan bolo na," said Ishita.
(Yes, tell me.)
"Can't we stay in the same room? I know hamari shaadi thodi alag situation mein hui thi, but now that we've decided to give it a try, so I think we can stay in the same room, right? Only if you're comfortable enough , koi pressure nahi hai," said Rakshit, tightening his hold on her, scared of her reaction.
(our marriage happened in a different situation) (no pressure.)
Ishita smiled softly hearing him. Her face was buried in his chest, so he couldn't see her reaction.
"Okay," said Ishita, making Rakshit freeze-he hadn't expected her to say yes so easily.
"Pakka na , I mean koi pressure nahi hai , if you-"
(By the way, I mean no pressure, if you-)
He was cut off mid-sentence by a soft peck on his cheek from his wife.
"I said okay, Rakshit , and I am not uncomfortable," said Ishita, making Rakshit smile as he came out of his stunned state and rested his forehead against hers.
"I don't keep favours," said Rakshit, pressing a gentle kiss on her cheek, making her blush.
"Hayyee yeh tera laal chehra meri Mrs. Blushing Nayak," said Rakshit teasingly, earning a light punch on his stomach from his wife.
(Aww, this red face of yours, my Mrs. Blushing Nayak.)
He laughed and hugged her tighter.
"Come early from Rawat Mansion," said Rakshit, more like a demand, making Ishita smile-just then, her phone rang.
"Yeh insaan mujhe chain se do minute meri biwi ke saath bhi nahi rehne dega na," said Rakshit, sulking when he saw Prakhar's name flashing on the screen.
(This person won't let me spend even two peaceful minutes with my wife.)
She picked up the call while still in his hug and put it on speaker-which turned out to be her biggest mistake.
"Madam, pati ke saath romance ho gaya ho to aa ja wapas , our HR is searching for you, saying she'll complain to Rakshit sir. Nowadays, you're taking too much time after lunch," said Prakhar, rolling his eyes, making Rakshit and Ishita chuckle.
(Madam, if you have had a romance with your husband then come back,)
"Woh bechari ko idea bhi nahi hai ki jis Rakshit sir ko woh complaint karne ki dhamki de rahi hai , tu unhi Rakshit sir ke saath romance karne ke chakkar mein late hoti hai," said Vidhi with a chuckle, making Rakshit laugh.
(Poor thing doesn't even know that the Rakshit sir she's threatening you with , is the same one you're late for because of romance.)
"I am coming, guys," said Ishita, blushing as she quickly hung up the call.
"Ab aayengi aapke paas hi complaints , jhelna," said Ishita, rolling her eyes.
(Now they'll come to you with the complaints , deal with it.)
"Why are you tensed because of her? Agar zyada boli vo to bas tera full name bata dena , rest I'll handle," said Rakshit, making Ishita sigh.
(If she talks too much, just give her your full name,)
"Accha mujhe ab jaane do , waise hi logon ko bohot doubt hai," said Ishita.
(Okay, now let me go , people are already suspicious.)
"Meet me before you leave for home , and come back soon from Rawat Mansion. I'll be waiting for you. Bye," said Rakshit, planting a soft kiss on her hair, making her smile as she left his office with a soft "bye."
✨
"Kya dikkat hai iss HR ki," asked Ishita, plopping down on her chair and immediately drawing Prakhar and Vidhi's attention.
(What's the HR's problem!)
"Behen, ab tu lunch khatam hone ke 15-20 minutes baad bhi nahi aayegi toh dikkat toh hogi na HR ko, usse thodi pata hai tu kahan hoti hai lunch mein," said Vidhi like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
(Sis, if you don't return even 15-20 minutes after lunch ends, HR is obviously going to have issues , she has no clue where you disappear to.)
"Apna lunch ka time fix hota hai, mere pati ka nahi , kabhi woh meeting mein atak jaate hain, kabhi call pe, aur like today-kabhi kabhi toh woh office hi nahi hote. Ismein meri kya galti hai?" said Ishita, in a sulking tone.
(My lunch time is fixed, not my husband's , sometimes he's stuck in meetings, sometimes on calls, and like today-sometimes he's not even in office. How is that my fault?)
"Ishita, humein pata hai tera pati kaun hai , baaki logon ko nahi pata. They'll treat you like a normal employee jab tak teri identity hidden hai. Today also our HR is saying that first you took holidays without informing her, and now you always take extra time during lunch. Usse kaise samjhaun main yeh baat?" said Prakhar, explaining the real issue.
(We know who your husband is , others don't. HR still thinks you're a regular employee and is annoyed you took leave without notice and now extend your lunches.)(How do I get her to understand this)
"Why can't you just reveal your identity? Sir ne mana kiya hai kya?" asked Vidhi.
(Has sir asked you to hide it?)
"Unhone nahi kiya mana , infact he's been ready since day one to reveal everything. But I just don't want that extra and fake attention I'll get once everyone knows I'm married , aur nazar lagane wale bohot hain," said Ishita with a defeated sigh.
(He hasn't refused ,And there are many who are affected by evil eyes.)
"It's okay , try to come on time after lunch from now. Agar tu roj late aayegi toh hoga hi sahi sabko shaq," said Vidhi, trying to make Ishita understand, and she just nodded.
(If you keep coming late, of course people will get suspicious.)
