Rakshit and Ishita were sitting in the garden after dinner, both with their laptops in front of them. Well, it would be more accurate to say that Rakshit was actually working, while Ishita sat beside him, lost in deep thought.

“What happened Ishita , kya soch rahi hai,” he asked gently, glancing sideways at his wife , with curiosity, noticing the distant look on her face. In this one week of marriage, he had begun to understand that she rarely said anything unless he asked first.

(what are you thinking?)

“You never told me about your family,” said Ishita with a little pout , hesitantly, making Rakshit freeze at her question for a moment.

“You meet everyone Ishita , infact you meet everyone almost everyday,” said Rakshit , Ishita immediately understood he was referring to the Rathore's and his group of friends.

“Rakshit, I am asking about your blood related family,” said Ishita with a slight hesitation , softly, her tone careful but firm.

“Sirf khoon ka rishta hone se koi family nahi ho jata Ishita , family is the one who loves you, adores you, takes care of you,” said Rakshit softly , with quiet pain in his voice.

(Just having a blood relation doesn’t make someone family, Ishita.)

Ishita didn't know what to say further. She really wanted to know the truth, but Rakshit’s disinterest made it harder. Still, Rakshit, sensing her silence, knew she deserved to know. And maybe , he was ready to share.

“My parents are no more , I got a call two years ago saying they died in a car accident. I was a single child so never had siblings,” said Rakshit , he spoke with a heavy breath, surprising Ishita. She hadn’t expected him to open up so easily.

“Your relatives or something??” asked Ishita , gently, her brows furrowed in concern.

“Never had a good relationship with them so they were never genuinely in my life,” said Rakshit softly , his voice low as Ishita simply nodded in understanding.

“So you miss your parents?” asked Ishita, expecting a yes. But what she heard left her stunned.

“No,” said Rakshit plainly, his answer was direct. And in his eyes, for a fleeting second, she saw something--bitterness, maybe even , hate.

“Why? like you lived with them for so long and they are your parents,” asked Ishita, confused by his reply , softly, trying to understand.

“Zaruri nahi har maa baap acche hi ho,” said Rakshit , his voice emotionless, making Ishita even more confused.

(It’s not necessary that all parents are good.)

“Okay tell me , you love some people very much and they also love you the same way , but your parents want you to compete with them only , and not just want, but almost force you to do that , then what will you do?” said Rakshit, he asked with a grim expression, making Ishita gulp.

“What did they do?” asked Ishita softly, taking Rakshit's hand in hers, gently, offering silent support.

“They never really loved me , never cared for me , all they cared about was how I should make Abhimanyu look bad , Me and Abhimanyu were best friends since our early school days. I’ve also known the Rathore's since childhood. They always loved me like their own , but my parents wanted me to backstab Abhi and bring him down. But I stood with him , because he loves me unconditionally. I felt like my parents just wanted me for money. Unke chakkar mein mere saare rishte chhut gaye , They never loved me like their own child. It might not sound like a big thing, but over time it got so bad that I had to leave them, not for revenge, but for my peace of mind,” said Rakshit, tears silently rolling down his cheeks , he confessed, years of suppressed pain finally finding a voice.

(In their obsession, I lost all my relationships,)

Seeing his tears, Ishita pulled him into a tight hug. Rakshit didn’t resist , he wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her chest as the tears kept flowing.

To some, Rakshit's past might seem normal. His reasons to leave his parents might seem unjustified. But Ishita understood. There comes a point where being around people who only want to use you, breaks you. It starts small, but with time, it eats you up from inside—especially when those people are the ones who were supposed to love you the most.

“It's okay Rakshit , see now you have so many people who love you, care for you , You have such a big family in the Rathore's and your friends,” said Ishita, softly caressing his hair , reassuringly, her words bringing a small smile to Rakshit’s face.

“Now I have two more in my family , you and Ishaan,” said Rakshit, sincerely, making Ishita’s heart flutter. They stayed in each other’s arms in comfortable silence for a while, until Rakshit gently broke it.

“Andar chalein , subah office bhi jaana hai apn dono ko,” said Rakshit , with a light tone as they stood up. But Ishita paused mid-step, remembering something.

(Shall we go inside? We both have to go to office tomorrow.)

“Rakshit can I just go to bhai for 2 minutes , bas unhe ek hug karna hai,” said Ishita , her voice tender. Rakshit smiled, instantly understanding her need.

(just want to hug him once.)

“I am no one to stop you , ja,” said Rakshit , with warmth, and Ishita smiled as she rushed toward Rawat Mansion.

(go.)

She knew Ishaan would be in his room, so she headed straight there and pushed the door open, only to find him working on his laptop, seated on the bed.

“Tu yaha , kya—” Ishaan began, confused, but was cut off when Ishita threw her arms around him in a sudden hug.

(You here , what—)

“Bhai tightly hug karo,” said Ishita, softly. Ishaan chuckled, hugging her tightly as requested.

(Bhai, hug me tightly.)

“Kya hua , iss time pe achanak se kaise aayi tu yaha?” asked Ishaan after a minute , still holding her.

(What happened , how did you suddenly come here at this hour?)

“Just missing you,” said Ishita—resting her head on his shoulder.

“We just met 2 hours ago betu , kuch baat hai kya?” said Ishaan , concerned.

(is something wrong?)

“Just wanted to hug you tightly,” said Ishita , honestly. Ishaan smiled, hugging her even tighter.

“Thank you for always being with me, for loving me, for taking care of me, for everything,” said Ishita, only to receive a light smack on her head from Ishaan.

“Pagal hai tu , ab bhai ko thank you bolegi tu? Aur vo bhi in sab cheezon ke liye?” said Ishaan, fake glaring at her , dramatically.

(Are you mad? Now you’ll thank your bhai? For all of this?)

“Haan haan theek hai na , mooh mat sadao , bandar lag rahe ho,” said Ishita, teasingly , with a laugh, making Ishaan laugh too as he hugged her again.

(Yeah yeah fine , don’t make faces , you're looking like a monkey.)

“Jaan hai tu meri Ishu , tu hai isliye zinda hoon main,” said Ishaan softly , with emotion, and Ishita smiled.

(You’re my life, Ishu , I live because of you.)

“Chal chal ab , tere pati ko jaake hug kar , mere paas bahut kaam hai,” said Ishaan, pushing her lightly, playfully, making Ishita’s mouth fall open at his comment.

(Go on now , go hug your husband , I have a lot of work.)

“Kar diya na paraya , bas itna hi pyaar tha na aapka , shaadi hote hi nikaal rahe ho aap mujhe ghar se,” said Ishita, pulling a face , dramatically, making Ishaan laugh.

(You made me feel like an outsider , was this all your love? Kicking me out after marriage?)

“Beta tu shayad bhool gayi lekin yeh ghar tere naam pe hai , main kaun hota hoon bhala Malkin ko uske hi ghar se nikalne waala,” said Ishaan , with a smug grin. Ishita gave him a sheepish smile , he was right.

(Betu, maybe you forgot, but this house is in your name , who am I to kick the queen out of her own house?)

“Of course you can't , but thik hai ja rahi hoon main , pati wait kar raha hai mera,” said Ishita , with a mock sigh.

(Of course you can’t , but fine, I’m going , my husband is waiting.)

“Bye , love you , aur so jaana time se , zyada kaam nahi,” said Ishita like a concerned mother , kissing his cheek.

(Bye , love you , and sleep on time , don’t overwork.)

“Good night maate , love you too,” said Ishaan, kissing her forehead , playfully, as Ishita left toward the Nayak Mansion.

(mother ,)

The next morning, Rakshit returned from his home temple after finishing his prayers, fully ready for office. As he stepped inside, he paused , surprised to find Ishita in the kitchen.

“Good morning,” said Rakshit, taking Ishita’s attention , greeting her warmly, the surprise still lingering in his voice.

“Good morning , coffee??” asked Ishita, passing him a smile as she handed him a cup, sweetly, the comfort between them growing with each passing day.

“Why are you in the kitchen , where is Sunita aunty?” asked Rakshit, accepting the cup , frowning slightly.

“She is sick today, so she'll not be able to come,” said Ishita , informed softly, making Rakshit’s brows crease.

“But she didn’t tell me anything , she always informs me whenever she’s taking a leave,” said Rakshit, confused , but with concern.

“Because she told me,” said Ishita , gently. Rakshit’s heart swelled at her words , at how naturally she had taken this house as her own.

“Breakfast laga du?” asked Ishita , with a soft smile.

(Shall I serve breakfast?)

“You should have told me , I could have made the breakfast , terko mehnat karni ki kya zarurat thi,” said Rakshit, feeling a little guilty , slightly upset that she had to work early in the morning.

(You didn’t have to put in the effort.)

“Isn't this my home also , and the least I can do is make breakfast for my husband , I really don’t have a problem in this,” said Ishita , the word “husband” and the sense of belonging in her tone making Rakshit’s heart flutter.

They both set the breakfast table together, chatting lightly about office work, their shoulders brushing now and then , casual yet intimate.

After breakfast, Ishita returned from the kitchen, having put the dishes in the sink. Rakshit was still waiting near the dining area.

“Chale , office ke liye late ho jayenge,” said Ishita, picking up her purse , reminded, ready to go.

(Shall we leave? We’ll get late for office.)

“Can I get one hug , please?” asked Rakshit with puppy eyes , little unsure, catching her off guard. Ishita blinked, stunned at his sudden request.

“I’m sorry , didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable , it's ok—” Rakshit began, worried , but he was cut off mid-sentence.

Ishita stepped forward and pulled him into a sudden hug.

“I’m not uncomfortable Rakshit , it's just that I got blank , and next time don’t ask , just hug me tightly whenever you want,” said Ishita , softly, her words making Rakshit smile as he wrapped his arms tightly around her, resting his chin on her head.

2 minutes aur,” said Rakshit, feeling her shift slightly , whispered, unwilling to let go.

(2 more minutes.)

Ishita smiled and snuggled back into his chest comfortably.

Two minutes passed and they finally broke the hug , well, partially. Rakshit still had his arms around her waist, caging her in, as he leaned down to plant a gentle kiss on her hair.

It was the first time he'd ever kissed her—even if it was just on her hair.

“Chale Mrs. Blushing Nayak , late ho raha tha na,” said Rakshit teasingly, seeing her cheeks turn pink , earning a light punch on his stomach from her.

(Shall we go, Mrs. Blushing Nayak , weren’t we getting late?)

“Chalo , nahi toh mera khadoos boss chillayega mujhpe late hone ke liye,” said Ishita , with mock annoyance.

(Let’s go , otherwise my grumpy boss will yell at me for being late.)

“Not again yaar Ishita,” said Rakshit, sulking , rolling his eyes as she laughed, stepping out the door with him following close behind, smiling.

Meanwhile, Ishaan was in a meeting with the heads of all departments when his phone vibrated on the table.

He frowned slightly, seeing Shivangi's name flash across the screen.

It had been two days since their sunrise date, and they hadn’t spoken since.

Not wanting to disappoint her, he excused himself—leaving the team surprised. It was rare for Ishaan to pause a meeting just to take a call.

“Hello,” said Ishaan softly, standing away from the conference room.

“Hello Rawat ji , where are you?” asked Shivangi , casually.

“Office mein hoon abhi toh,” said Ishaan, confused , puzzled by the sudden question.

(I’m at the office right now.)

“Are you up for lunch?” said Shivangi , directly, catching him off guard.

“Sure , but it’ll take me at least 20 minutes. I’m in a meeting and can’t leave in the middle,” said Ishaan, guilt lacing his voice as he explained apologetically.

“It’s okay Ishaan , I’m on my way to your office only , it’ll take me 10 minutes to reach. I can wait for you , nothing to worry about,” said Shivangi softly , reassuring him sweetly.

“Okay listen , come to the office , directly come to the 8th floor , only my cabin is there. Please wait for me, I’ll wrap this meeting quickly,” said Ishaan , with warmth, touched that she was coming all the way.

“Sure Ishaan , and you don’t have to hurry because of me , take your time. Bye,” said Shivangi , with a smile. Ishaan ended the call after saying goodbye and walked back toward the meeting room, a small grin on his face.

As promised, Shivangi reached Rawat Tech ten minutes later and headed straight to the 8th floor. That floor was private—with only Ishaan's cabin for solitude and focus.

She sat down on the couch in his cabin when a young woman entered, confusing her for a moment.

“Hello ma’am , I’m Mr. Rawat’s PA. He’ll be here in five minutes, just wrapping up the meeting,” said the woman politely , with a smile.

Shivangi simply nodded, her mind elsewhere.

“Do you need anything ma’am , tea, coffee, juice, or something else?” asked the girl offered helpfully.

“No thanks,” said Shivangi curtly , politely but briefly. The girl gave a soft smile and quietly left the cabin.

Meanwhile, Akash, Abhimanyu, and Rakshit were sitting in Abhimanyu’s cabin, working on a new project when Akash’s phone buzzed.

They all noticed the screen flash:

“Ishaannnn💗🧿”

Akash picked up the call, raising an eyebrow. He knew Ishaan was in a meeting, so the call confused him.

“Bol,” said Akash , casually.

(Tell me.)

“I’m taking your sister out for lunch , she’s at my office. I’ll share the location with you and Abhi bhai saa. Just let him know,” said Ishaan on the call , with a slight urgency, making Akash smile.

Akash quickly put the call on speaker, now grinning widely. Abhimanyu and Rakshit exchanged a confused look.

“You don’t have to share location and all , I trust you more than my life to send my sister with you on a lunch date,” said Akash sincerely , with warmth, earning a small smile from Abhimanyu. Rakshit, however, looked visibly shocked by the revelation.

“It’s not about us Akash , I’m taking your sister out and it’s my responsibility to inform you and Abhi bhai saa. I know how a brother’s heart works. I’ll talk later. Already made her wait too much because of that stupid meeting. Bye , love you,” said Ishaan, hanging up before Akash could respond. Ishaan stepped outside his cabin.

“Is he talking about Shivangi?” asked Rakshit, amused , in disbelief, watching the smiles on both Abhimanyu and Akash’s faces.

“He still fears ki hum dono uske intentions doubt karenge Shivu ko lekar,” said Akash, shaking his head with a fond smile , amused.

(He still fears that the two of us will doubt his intentions regarding Shivu.)

“Bhai, chal kya raha hai? Koi batayega mujhe?” asked Rakshit, still confused , throwing his hands up.

(Bhai, what’s going on? Will someone tell me?)

“He’s interested in Shivu , but he fears us a little on that matter, thinking we might doubt him,” said Abhimanyu with a small smile , simply.

“So you both are okay with him liking Shivu? And does she know that he likes her?” asked Rakshit with surprise.

“We know we can’t find anyone better than him for Shivu , and she knows he likes her. He told her when they went to watch the sunrise together,” said Akash, smiling as shared fondly.

“It still shocks me how you and he became best friends , you both are total opposites. And considering how he’s an extreme introvert,” said Rakshit, clearly amused with raised brows.

“It seems like he’s an introvert and opposite to me , but he’s not. He’s an extrovert with his people. And honestly, we’re very similar. Just a few differences—and I think those differences are what keep our bond and love growing stronger,” said Akash with a fond smile , his voice full of emotion.

“So now you finally understand that friendship is important in life, right?” asked Abhimanyu with a knowing smile, teasingly as Akash chuckled.

“It is important , and also a very beautiful bond we made in our lives,” said Akash with a wide smile , warmly, making all three men smile.
