Mumbai, Police headquarters , present day

A meeting was going on with all the high ranking police officers of the city. Home minister of the state was addressing them. 

"Our government is facing severe criticism over increased crime rates and underworld activities in the city. Opposition has been targeting us, taunting us for having no control over law and order situation. I want to know what our police force is doing?" Home minister Machindra Thorat asked angrily as he banged his fist on the table. 

"Sir, aap toh jante hi hain ki kuch saal pehle tak gangwars ka itna problem nahi tha. There was only one name to tackle, the don, the most wanted criminal, jise log Mumbai ka uncrowned king bhi kehte the. Lekin uske yaha se jane ke baad se uske khali pade throne ko har koi haasil karne mein laga hua hai. Har chhote se chhota, bade se bada gang and mafia lords active ho rahe hain isliye ye sab gangwars badhte ja rahe hain. But we are trying our best. Our best officers are are on it, they will soon give us the result." Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sanjeev Salaskar replied. 

"Lies, all lies. Your so called best officers have been proving a total failure to stop it. When will they bring results, after our govt. loses trust of public? Already hundreds of people have died during past few months due to the gang wars. Human rights organizations, social media, press, opposition; everyone is cornering our chief minister and party. I want result as soon as possible." Home minister Thorat made his point clear. 

"Sir, give me some time I'll...." DIG Sanjeev started but minister silenced him by showing his hand gesture.

"Enough of your excuses. Now I'll look into the matter personally. I know just the right person for this job. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), crime branch, Satya Adhikari." Minister took the name and immediately a man with stoic face, tall frame and lean body stood up from his chair. 

"Yes sir." Satya addressed the minister and stood up in attention. Everyone present in the meeting hall looked at the young officer, Satya.

"Meet Satya Adhikari, our new DCP crime branch Mumbai. He is an IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He was posted as analytical officer in Intelligence Bureau (IB) at Delhi. But now I have specially arranged for his posting back here to save our govt. from this awkward situation." Minister Thorat made the introduction.

"A desk officer now will stop Mumbai's underworld activities?" DIG made a sarcastic comment and everyone laughed. 

"Sanjeev! Don't forget the discipline." Home minister scolded DIG.

"I am sorry sir, I didn't mean to disturb you but don't you think hamare department mein itne experienced aur kaabil officers ke hote hue ye Satya Adhikari ki special posting ki jarurat nahi hai." DIG asked the question which everyone present there wanted to ask but didn't have courage.

Soon the murmurs started in the room in support of DIG's valid objection. Home Minister Thorat had to explain in details. "Main DIG Sanjeev aur aap sabke doubts samajh sakta hoon lekin main aapko bata doon ki mujhe Satya ke kabiliyat par pura bharosa hai. He took desk job because of some personal reasons. His service record is impeccable. Being a part of IB he has always been a valuable asset to our forces. He has helped in curbing organized crimes in many major cities of our country. He knows his job very well. That's why I chose him. And I expect you all will lend your full support to him." Minister gave instructions.
