Chapter 8

Life had greatly improved for Harry. Draco still mentally trained with him every day, just in case. Draco had been through just about every memory Harry had. He saw Severus's memories in full as Harry had gotten better at maintaining the connection. Draco was quite intrigued with Harry's acquisition of the Death Hallows, well two of them. Voldemort still had the Elder Wand, though it seemed like his same level of power.

"How long do you think we need to do this?" Harry asked, looking at the floor.

Despite their progress, Draco couldn't help but be concerned about Harry's mental scars. The wall was only hiding them. He wasn't sure that Harry could live like that. In fact, he was quite concerned that any long period without a session would break his mental wall.

"Should do it every day... just in case. It's good training for me as well. The Dark Lord was rough when he delved into my mind."

Harry looked at him and whispered, "Sorry."

"It's not in any way your fault."

Harry grimaced and looked at the floor. "Draco? You've seen Snape's memories... you understand that I have to die, right? Before Voldemort figures out a way to get it out. Killing him is more important than my life."

Draco's eyes watered. "I can't."

"I can do it."

"I can't let you do it."

Harry nodded. "Because of his order or because you care about me?"

Draco sighed and mumbled, "Because I don't want you to go."

Harry was quiet. "Even with all your... help. I'm broken. I won't ever be right. I don't want to live like this."

"I can help you," Draco said.

"You have, Draco, but you can help everyone by destroying his Horcrux. Make him vulnerable."

"He has the Elder Wand! He's still unbeatable!" Draco growled.

"He'll be mortal, Draco. You could slit his throat in his sleep. That's what the fairy tale says. The wand's hi온라인카지노게임 is bloody."

"I know. That's why he killed Severus."

Harry's eyes furrowed and considered that. "His wand still isn't any stronger than usual."

Draco looked at Harry. "I... thought that, too. Maybe it's just a myth. A confidence booster."

Harry was uncertain. "Your wand... was nice... warm. Strong."

Draco raised his eyebrows and brought it out. "It's different... than before you took it. But it's been getting better, like it is... growing on me."

Harry blinked. "I took it from you."

"Yeah, it sucked. I had to use my mum's."

"Ollivander... he said... it changed loyalties. It's mine."

Draco blinked and tilted his head. "Can you show me that?"

Harry nodded and Draco went into his mind to watch Ollivander talk about his wand. He was agitated when he came out. "So, it belongs to you?"

"It was still warm for me when I held it in front of Voldemort... so yes?"

"Weird...."

"I won it. It remembers," Harry explained. "You didn't 'win' it back."

Draco thought about it and pulled out his wand. "You won it... but you didn't kill me for it."

"Umm... obviously not," Harry scoffed.

"But... Harry! The Dark Lord... the Elder wand... he... didn't win it," Draco pointed out.

Harry paused and bit his lip. "He stole the wand. But Snape... didn't win it either." Harry looked at Draco's wand and up to Draco. "Draco, you disarmed Dumbledore. You won his wand with that wand in your hand."

Draco swallowed. "I... no. I didn't touch it."

"Neither did Snape. You removed the wand from Dumbledore's possession. You won it... and I... won it from you."

Draco nodded like he knew and hadn't wanted to voice the theory aloud. "Are you telling me that we have a wand that is... what? Capable of defeating the Dark Lord?"

Harry shrugged. "I guess. Wands are funny. You remember the graveyard? I think... I think that your wand will defeat the Elder Wand."

"We actually have a weapon."

"No, I do, and he has to kill me before I kill him. I can't even give you the wand, either, or let you have it. No... it's hopeless. If we kill him before he kills me... then he takes over my body, and I'll be a meat suit."

"Maybe Occlumency will save you?"

"I'll never be rid of him. I have to die."

Draco stood up. "Stop saying that! I can't... you can't die! I am bound to you!" he shouted and stormed out.
