"The hell? Why the fuck are you taking pictures of her?" I blurted out before I could stop myself.
"She wouldn't mind. She'll forgive me once we're back together." Tobin stated.
For a brief moment I wondered whether we were talking about the same Jill. She'd kick his ass if she knew. It weirded me out that Tobin didn't see anything wrong with taking pictures of her. Maybe he would if I could catch him in the action.
There was only one way to do this; detective Code was going undercover.
I went home shortly after because I didn't really care enough to hang out with the two knobheads. Later that night, the plan worked itself out again. Jill had texted me if I wanted to go to a party and knowing Jill would be on the move, chances were big Tobin would be too. With a huge effort and reluctance I texted her back that I had plans with Jacob so I couldn't go. Little did she know I'd be following Tobin who was following her.
While I was playing with Bus, I was thinking about what to wear. I obviously couldn't wear a ski mask because I'd get arrested. I didn't feel like running from the cops again. I only do that on my birthday. Unfortunately I didn't own a camouflage suit but I considered investing in one because I could probably have some fun with that.
Luckily, I knew my dad had this long raincoat and I owned a fedora because the school had banned hats inside of the building. I obviously went nuts with it and bought loads of different hats. I figured the fedora would be a better fit, rather than my green hat shaped as a frog. I grabbed sunglasses too, just to look like an entire douchebag.
I drove to my parents' restaurant because I couldn't find dad's raincoat anywhere in the house. I figured he'd been wearing it this morning. The restaurant was packed which was even better because that way I could steal the coat and get out of there before one of my parents would spot me and give me chores.
I rubbed my hands like a villain when I spotted the coat in the employees closet. It was an ugly thing but it would do its job.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I heard a shrill voice behind me. I closed my eyes the moment I'd heard my mom and figured maybe if I stayed silent, she'd just disappear.
"Take a step back and turn around." She said firmly. I raised my hands and turned around slowly while my eyes were still shut. I slowly opened them to see my mom with a reprimanding yet amused expression on her face, a towel hanging over her shoulder and a hand firmly planted on her hip. She meant business.
"Care to explain?" My mom asked when I still hadn't said anything. I was still hoping she'd disappear if I didn't move too much.
"Not really." I answered honestly.
"Don't make me use this towel." She grabbed the towel from her shoulder.
"You wouldn't." I narrowed my eyes.
"Want to find out?" She challenged me. I didn't. I knew she wasn't bluffing and knowing Snake was working, I didn't want him to see me running around while being chased by my mom with a towel. I wouldn't allow him such pleasure.
"I just wanted to borrow dad's coat." I confessed.
"Why?" My mom asked hesitantly. She was still trying to figure out if she really wanted to hear my answer.
"I don't like to get rained upon?" I said but it came out as a question. "Look, the coat will be here later tonight without any harm done to the thing." I sighed.
"Alright, we have a deal." She said after a few seconds. We shook hands and parted ways. I was lucky enough not to bump into the other parent. He wouldn't let me off that easy. To be honest, I think my mom didn't like the ugly coat either.
