Ally is an Asian fantasy writer from a tiny island in Southeast Asia. She especially loves English classics and kung fu action movies with fantastical elements. Had she not broken her foot in 2021, she would never have made her way onto 카지노후기, where she found many like-minded friends. When she's not busy writing, reading or being a full-time mommy, she enjoys adult coloring books, gardening, and dancing to Kpop in her kitchen.

Princess Snow and the Empress is an Asian Snow White fairytale retelling which features a spunky princess who tends to shoot off at the mouth. She has to save herself from a huntsman, bring herself back to life, and discover her own magical powers in order to defeat the dark-magic wielding empress, who is more than she seems.
Favorite Quote:
"Color seemed to seep off the apple and brought the cottage to life - the walls brightened into polished chestnut, the cooking pot gleamed like it was made of obsidian, even the woman looked less like a ragged beggar and more like a wandering sage."

1. What is your favourite thing about writing on 카지노후기?
The interaction with my readers and the 카지노후기 community! I actually started writing the 온라인카지노게임 offline and sent chapters to a friend weekly. We were both budding writers and I really enjoyed getting feedback from her. When the 온라인카지노게임 grew longer than expected, I decided to put it up on 카지노후기 to see what the response was like.
Since then, I've been heartened to receive lovely comments from readers, joined book clubs for constructive criticism, made lots of friends especially from the @Dreamland온라인카지노주소, and found my mentor @am-prabeswar through @BootcampMentors.
Without this supportive community, my 온라인카지노게임 would have stayed unfinished on my laptop hard drive, and I would not have had the opportunity to be mentored, much less improve my craft.
2. What challenges did you face while writing Princess Snow and the Empress?
I think my biggest challenge was deciding whether I wanted to stick to the Snow White fairy tale, albeit with an Asian flair, or whether I wanted a completely new, reimagining of the source material. I kept certain classic elements like the mirror, the huntsman and the apple, but I was leaning towards a reimagining, with magical creatures as well as Chinese folklore.
Other than that, I struggled to come up with explanations on how certain magic worked. Even though it's fantasy, it had to still be believable and completely plausible for the plot to work.
3. Did any 카지노후기 온라인카지노게임 or Published 온라인카지노게임 influence you to write it?
Definitely, that would be Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I loved how the author set the Cinderella-retelling in a futuristic Beijing, with other fantastical elements to really make it her own, and I felt strongly that I could write something similar.
4. What influenced you to write a fairytale retelling with such magical strong characters?
I grew up watching the Disney version of Snow White, in which she's very sweet and gentle, and was completely powerless against the Evil Queen, who was a total badass with the potions and magic. At that time, I did wonder, why can't Snow White fight back? Why is the playing field so uneven? What happens if Snow White had magic of her own?
The only time I saw Snow White as a strong character was in Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher series, in the form of Renfri. She didn't have magic, but she was deadly with a sword and had a whole back온라인카지노게임 on how she escaped the huntsman and became a bandit. I really loved how the author started his writing career with a collection of fairy tale retellings, with Geralt of Rivia at the heart of it. I guess that's when I realized I could start writing that way too.
Whilst writing, I was also influenced by Mo Dao Zu Shi, a popular xianxia web novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu that had magic like flying swords and qiankun bags that could hold lots of things like a Mary Poppins bag.
5. What advice would you like to give to other writers writing in the same genre?
I'm so new to writing, I don't think I'm in a position to give advice! But if I were to impart any words of wisdom, it would be, wait a few months before editing or finding a critique partner. By then, you'll see your work with a fresh pair of eyes, and you won't be so attached to your baby that you can't snip what needs to go.
6. Your favourite Fantasy author?
Neil Gaiman, hands down. I love The Graveyard Book, American Gods, Norse Mythology, and his dark Snow White retelling titled Snow, Glass, Apples. I also like Andrzej Sapkowski for his Witcher series, Garth Nix for his book Sabriel, and George R. R. Martin.
7. Any favourite TV shows which have a lot of magic and fantasy?
Game of Thrones, though the last season left me feeling a bit underwhelmed - I think some hardcore fans would think that's putting it very lightly! Still, I invested a lot of time and emotions into the books and TV show.
8. What do you do apart from writing?
Apart from writing, I'm also a hobbyist photographer and a parent volunteer at my kid's school. I used to draw manga-styled characters and color them digitally with Photoshop, but my drawing skills are super rusty now. Hence, these days I color coloring books - Johanna Basford is a favorite - with color pencils or pens.
9. One word to describe yourself.
Exuberant. I always say life's too short to be miserable.
10. Mountain or the Beach?
That's a hard one! I was lucky enough to be born in a place where we had mountains and beaches. I love both - I've climbed the highest mountain in Borneo twice, and had many long walks by the beach with my late father. But if I had to choose, my answer would be the former. Nothing can beat crisp, fresh air, and the satisfaction of conquering a mountain.
Thank you so much for interviewing me!
