Odessa narrowed her eyes. "What do you know about alpha moves?"
He smirked again and leaned closer to her. "I kissed you first, didn't I?"
She wanted to slap that cocky smirk off his face. When she didn't respond to him, he threw another popcorn kernel and ended up hitting a man way below them. The man stood up angrily. "Who the hell did that?" He shouted at the theater people.
Odessa panicked and quickly grabbed Eli's face, pulling it toward her and kissing him so the man wouldn't look at him.
Her friends stared at them with wide eyes. "Nice save, Dess." Oliver approved.
The man sat back down after seeing no one was looking at him but the couple didn't pull away and sat there, making out while the movie was playing.
Odessa sat in boredom in the classroom with all the other students, the packet of the practice PSAT test in front of them on their desks. Oliver tapped his pencil on the desk to keep himself awake. "How come Asher is so quiet?" She whispered to him.
"He just came out to his parents that he's gay. He's still pretty shy about it," Oliver answered while looking at his paper.
From behind them, Demetri leaned forward. "And you're not?"
The red head looked over his shoulder and scoffed. "Please, Metri. I was hiding in a closet made of glass."
Odessa quietly laughed. Demetri took notice of how frustrated Miguel was. "What's wrong with you?"
He sighed and reached for his pencil. "It's just a practice test, relax." He smarted off.
"Easy for you to say." He pointed between them all. "All three of you are in relationships,"
"What does that have to do with anything?" Miguel slowly asked, his annoyance rising.
"I gotta do well on these, so I do well on the actual test, so I get into a good college. Which will lead to a good internship, then a high-paying job, and then after a couple promotions, I should have enough confidence to get a super-hot girl."
Oliver hummed and nodded his head. "Man's got his life figured out. Gotta give it to him."
"You guys have the karate thing. I gotta play the long game."
Odessa briefly rolled her eyes and continued working on her test. When the bell rang, the group of friends gathered their things and walked out of the classroom. Sam was waiting for Miguel by the door. "Hey!" She greeted him sweetly.
They noticed his immediate discomfort. "Hey," Miguel replied and slowly leaned in to kiss her.
"We'll meet you later, Miguel?" Press's offered, wanting to get away from the awkwardness
"Uh, yeah."
She looped her arms through the two taller boys. "Let's go, boys." She declared and that began to walk away. She looked back over her shoulder to see the couple standing there awkwardly and she could see the sad look on Sam's face. "Poor Mig, finally gets a girls and their dad's are rivals."
