The day had been long, and Rashi found herself wandering into a quaint little café near her office. It wasn't intentional-she just needed a breather, a moment away from the suffocating weight of her thoughts. Work had been keeping her busy, but her mind was restless. The past few days had been hard, and today, for some reason, she felt especially vulnerable.
As she placed her order, she took a deep breath, trying to shake off the nagging thoughts of Raj and his indifference.
But fate had other plans.
"What a surprise," a familiar voice sneered from behind.
Rashi's body tensed. Maya.
She turned around slowly, her face carefully neutral. Maya stood there, her arms crossed, a smirk playing on her lips. She was dressed impeccably as always, exuding confidence and arrogance in equal measure.
"Maya,"Rashi greeted politely, refusing to show any emotion.
Maya tilted her head, her smirk widening. "You look... different. But I suppose being Mrs. Singhania would do that to anyone. Must be nice, huh? Wearing that title like a trophy."
Rashi gripped the edge of the counter. She knew what Maya was doing.
Trying to get under her skin. Trying to remind her that she had been in Raj's life first.
But Rashi refused to let Maya see her falter.
"I don't see it that way,"she replied smoothly.
Maya laughed-a low, mocking sound. "Of course, you don't. You're the perfect wife, aren't you? Loyal, patient, waiting for Raj to look at you the way he used to look at me."
Rashi's chest tightened, but she held her ground. She wouldn't let Maya see the crack in her armor.
"If you have something to say, Maya, just say it."
Maya took a slow step forward, eyes gleaming with cruelty.
"You'll never be enough for him, Rashi."
The words hit like a punch to the gut.
For a moment, Rashi felt the air leave her lungs.
Maya saw the flicker of hurt in her eyes, and her smirk widened. "Raj and I have hi온라인카지노게임. You? You're just a temporary distraction. A wife he was forced to marry. If you think he'll ever love you the way he loved me, you're fooling yourself."
Rashi forced herself to smile. A painful, hollow smile.
"If that's what you think, then so be it," she said quietly.
Maya faltered for a brief second, as if she hadn't expected Rashi to remain so calm.
But Rashi wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of seeing her break.
She picked up her tea, turned on her heel, and walked away.
But inside? She was crumbling.
By the time Rashi reached home, Maya's words still echoed in her mind.
"You'll never be enough for him."
"Raj and I have hi온라인카지노게임. You're just a distraction."
The house was quiet when she arrived. Too quiet.
She needed air. She needed space.
She walked out to the garden, letting the night breeze cool the burning ache in her chest.
And for the first time in a long time, she let herself cry.
Her shoulders shook as silent tears streamed down her face.
She had been fighting so hard. Trying to be strong. Trying to not let it affect her.
But it did.
Because deep down, wasn't this her biggest fear?
That Raj would never love her?
That she was just someone he had to tolerate?
"Rashi..."
Her breath hitched. Raj.
She wiped at her tears quickly and turned around.
"I'm fine, Raj. It's nothing."
Raj's eyes narrowed. She had been crying.
"If it was nothing, you wouldn't be out here alone," he said, stepping closer.
Rashi let out a weak chuckle. "Sometimes, solitude is peaceful."
Raj wasn't convinced. He had seen her strength, her resilience. But tonight, she looked broken.
"Did someone say something to you?" he asked, his voice sharp.
Rashi let out a bitter laugh. "Does it matter, Raj?"
His jaw clenched. "Of course, it does."
She shook her head, looking away. "It shouldn't."
Her voice was barely above a whisper. "You've made it clear that we are nothing more than husband and wife in name. So why should it matter if I'm hurt or not?"
Raj felt something twist painfully in his chest.
For a second, he wanted to tell her.
That it did matter. That seeing her like this did something to him.
That he didn't like the idea of someone hurting her.
But he couldn't.
Because if he let her in...
If he let himself care...
It would destroy him.
So instead, he clenched his fists, forcing himself to look away.
And when Rashi turned to leave, he didn't stop her.
But this time, he wanted to. He just didn't know why.
