Rashi had made up her mind. She couldn’t keep going on like this—waiting for Raj to open up, waiting for things to change. No, she needed to take control of her life. She needed to build something for herself, something that wasn’t tied to him, his empire, or the complicated web that was their marriage.

The job interview she had secured filled her with a sense of purpose. As she walked through the streets to the office building, her heart pounded with both excitement and nervousness. For so long, her life had been centered around Raj, his world, and his business. But now, for the first time, she was carving out a space of her own. A space where she wasn’t his wife, where she wasn’t in his shadow. She was Rashi Verma—the woman who had dreams beyond the walls of her marriage.

Meanwhile, Raj’s frustration was building. He had noticed the changes in Rashi—how she no longer sat beside him at dinner, how she didn’t look him in the eye when they spoke, how she seemed more distant, almost like a stranger. At first, he told himself it didn’t matter. They had always maintained a functional, if distant, relationship, but the more he tried to convince himself, the more he realized it was hurting him.

His pride, his control over every aspect of his life, was slipping. And he hated it.

Raj tried to push the thoughts aside and focus on business. But even his focus on the mafia family rivalries seemed like a distraction from what was happening at home. He had received more disturbing news from Aryan about Vikram’s increasing hostility. But, in truth, his mind wasn’t on his business empire—his mind was on Rashi.

As Rashi stepped into the sleek, modern office building, she took a deep breath. The smell of fresh coffee and the sound of the bustling workplace energized her. She was used to the atmosphere of Raj’s world, filled with luxury and power. But here, in this neutral environment, she felt something different—independence.

She was greeted by a receptionist who led her to a conference room. The interview panel, a group of sharp, professional-looking individuals, welcomed her warmly. They were keenly interested in her experience, and they listened intently as she spoke about her skills, her background, and her desire to be part of a dynamic company.

For the first time in a long while, Rashi felt like she was in control of her own destiny.

Later that evening, Raj returned home from a long day of business meetings. His mind was still preoccupied with Rashi’s behavior. He had tried to ignore it, to brush it off, but the distance between them was becoming more and more obvious. He noticed she had been avoiding him, but he hadn’t been able to figure out why.

He had never been one to show vulnerability. But something inside him was breaking. He had always believed that control was everything, that keeping a firm grip on things would keep everything in place. But Rashi’s growing indifference was like a crack in the foundation of his carefully built world.

Raj stepped into the living room, where Rashi was sitting on the couch, reading something on her phone. She didn’t acknowledge him when he entered, and that stung more than he wanted to admit.

Rashi,” he said, his voice tense.

She looked up, her eyes flickering to him before quickly returning to her phone. “Yes?”

He stood still for a moment, trying to steady his emotions. “What’s going on with you? Why are you avoiding me?” His voice was sharper than he intended, but he couldn’t help it. The frustration he felt had been building for days, and he couldn’t hold it back anymore.

Rashi closed her phone and placed it on the table in front of her. “I’m not avoiding you, Raj. I’m just… focusing on other things.”

The way she said it—so nonchalant—made Raj’s blood boil. “Other things?” he repeated, his voice low with a dangerous edge. “What other things?”

Rashi raised an eyebrow, her face stoic. “My life doesn’t have to revolve around you and your business. I can have my own life, Raj.”

There it was. The truth. Raj’s heart skipped a beat, and for the first time, he felt a pang of fear. She’s distancing herself from me.

He clenched his jaw, trying to mask the discomfort he was feeling. “Are you saying you don’t want this marriage?”

Rashi’s gaze softened, but there was no sign of the warmth he had once seen in her eyes. “That’s not what I’m saying, Raj. I’m just saying that I need to take control of my own life, even if it’s only for myself.”

Raj’s chest tightened. What does she mean by that? He had always been the one who controlled everything, who made the decisions. But Rashi was slipping away from him, and it terrified him.

You’re not the same, Rashi,” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.

Rashi exhaled, her expression unreadable. “Neither are you, Raj.”

The following day, Raj received a call that would shift everything. It was Aryan again, calling with disturbing news.

“Boss, we’ve gathered information on Vikram’s next move,” Aryan’s voice was serious, urgent. “It’s bad. He’s not only attacking you professionally, but he’s also targeting your personal life.”

Raj stood up from his desk, his heart pounding. “What do you mean, personally?”

Vikram will try to use your family against you. He’s been spreading rumors about ma'am, trying to make her a pawn in his game. We’ve also intercepted communication that he’s planning something to discredit you both publicly. He wants to use your wife to destroy you from the inside out, sir.”

Raj’s mind raced. This was the kind of threat he had been anticipating, but hearing it confirmed sent a cold chill through his veins. “Keep me updated, Aryan. I want every detail. No one touches what’s mine.”

Understood, sir,” Aryan replied before hanging up.

Raj stood frozen for a moment, his hands gripping the edge of his desk. The last thing he had ever wanted was for Rashi to be involved in his world like this. But it seemed that Vikram had no boundaries, no moral compass. He would go to any lengths to destroy Raj—and Rashi was just another weapon in his arsenal.

Later that evening, Raj found himself pacing the hallways of his mansion, his mind running a thousand miles an hour. His thoughts kept circling back to Rashi and the distance she had put between them. But now, with the threat from Vikram looming over them, he couldn’t afford to lose focus.

Rashi, on the other hand, was sitting alone in her room, staring at the phone in her hand. The interview had gone well—too well. She had received an offer to join the company she had applied to. It was everything she had hoped for. A fresh start, independence, and a chance to build her future.

But something tugged at her heart. What would Raj think if he found out? She had kept the news from him for now. She didn’t want to deal with the confrontation. She didn’t want him to make her feel guilty for wanting something more than what their marriage had become.

She had already made up her mind. She wasn’t going to let herself be trapped in this marriage of convenience, stuck in a role that only revolved around Raj’s empire. She had to carve out her own path.

The distance between Raj and Rashi continued to grow. Raj tried to focus on the business at hand, to throw himself into protecting his empire from Vikram’s attack. But Rashi’s absence—both physically and emotionally—left a hole in his life that he couldn’t ignore.

Rashi, meanwhile, was preparing herself for a new chapter in her life. She kept the offer to herself, but she could feel her resolve strengthening with each passing day. She was ready to move forward, even if it meant leaving behind the man she had once hoped to call her own.

As the days passed, the tension between Raj and Rashi grew. Raj’s business empire was under threat from Vikram, but the biggest battle was happening at home, in the silence that had begun to consume their marriage.

Neither of them knew what the future held, but one thing was clear—their worlds were shifting, and the choices they made would define the path ahead.
