"What do you truly know about me?"
"I know nothing of myself, I truthfully don't."
"I miss my friends..."
"No, the ones from...yeah..."
"That's okay, I guess..."
"Regret. Regret is what I'm feeling."
Location: ????
Year: ????
Time: Morning (?)"I don't recognize this ceiling."
A wooden surface loomed overhead, its brown planks were uneven, with a small but noticeable crack running through the center. Sunlight filtered in, illuminating my face. My expression was unchanged, as expected.
This isn't how I expected to start my day.
"Moooooo!"
The lowing of a cow echoed nearby. A farm, then? The pile of hay beneath me and the scent in the air left little room for doubt.
I turned my head slightly to confirm.
Dung.
Wonderful.
Kidnapping? Unlikely. The chances of anyone successfully sedating me long enough to bring me here were practically non-existent. My situational awareness wouldn't allow for such a lapse.
"My phone..."
I reached into the pocket of my school uniform and pulled out the rectangular device, its familiar weight reassuring. The screen flickered to life.
[97%]
The battery remained unchanged from when I last checked before going to bed. Nothing else seemed amiss. No bruises, no restraints. My uniform was just as I'd left it. Not a single thing pointed to foul play.
Which meant...
Sleepwalking? An interesting theory, but not plausible. The teachers at ANHS, not to mention the security systems in place, would have caught me long before I left the island. Escaping unnoticed was impossible.
I forced myself to think.
Could I have walked a significant distance without draining my phone's battery or encountering anyone along the way? The odds were negligible, bordering on impossible. Running calculations on something that improbable would only waste time. Plus, I was meant to sleep, not think—that would've been saved when the Second Year started, so...
So, what's happening here?
I stayed motionless, lying on the hay, contemplating. My surroundings offered little insight. No voices, no human activity. Only the occasional noise from animals.
