Have I any regrets?
I have lived a thousand lifetimes. Loved and lost, lost and loved – thrown myself hopelessly to the cruel whims of grief more times than there are stars in the universe. I wander alone, night after night, craving one more song, a fleeting touch, hungry for a glance in my direction.
All I get are empty windows. Abandoned streets. An echo of something that passed through a thousand years ago and left only shadows behind. The rest, silence.
Have I any regrets?
Only one.
"Do you want to live forever?" she asked.
I should have said no.
