If you're reading this, you've successfully found out my plans for this year's Nanowrimo.
In case you've been living under a rock and don't know what Nanowrimo is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month and each November writers pledge to write 50k words during the month of November. It usually makes people write 50k of a brand new book, but you can also pledge to write 50k for an already existing one. In April and July, there are special editions—known as Camp Nanowrimo—where you can pledge to write how many words you want during that month. With the recent(-ish) rebranding of the website, you can create a project whenever you feel like it and add a goal of however many words you wish.
I've been doing this for years now. There hasn't been a challenge I haven't completed ever since I first started doing Nano, including that one year I thought I'd die from stress over college and still wrote CF and PO at the same time, or last year when I somehow wrote 160k words. Somehow. There were also times when things didn't work out that well, like July 2020 Camp Nano where I barely managed to hit my 5k goal, but sometimes life gets in the way.
Since this is my second Nanowrimo out of college and without anything better to do with my time and since I promised you guys exciting new things now that I'm in the Creators Program, I thought it would be fun to share what I'll be working on this year. For the first time in like 50 years, I'll be working on something Brand New instead of continuing an existing project or bringing back something from the vault.
This year, I'll be writing the infamous
·̩̩̥͙**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ FINAL GIRL BOOK ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙
If you follow me on twitter, you've probably heard me and Steph talk about this. I can't keep my mouth shut for the life of me, even though I should sometimes, and couldn't stop promoting it back when it still only had a title and a basic premise. So, yeah.
It's about our Final Girl Wendy, dealing with the aftermath of the massacre that gave her the FG status, and she and her therapy doggo move to a northern, cold state to stay with her brother for a while. It's character-focused, focused on recovery and Wen-D evolving as a person and coming to terms with what happened to her; it's similar to Gaslighter in tone and it's also a bit dark, although it deals with much different topics, so, if you like that book, you'll probably like this one as well.
I AM OH SO VERY EXCITED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU. It has been in the works for so long and I love unhinged women, so here we are <3
