" I am his Fiancee."
Aadhya stopped writing and she looked up at her stunned.
" What?" She asked frowning at her.
" Yup, came to meet him for lunch. Hasn't he informed anything about it?" She asked.
" No........actually he didn't come to the office, he went directly to the meeting." Aadhya said looking down.
" Oh ok, inform him when he comes back." Saying this she walked away arrogantly.
Gasps and whispers started going around in the office about Rishabh and Leena.
Aadhya maintained her calm but these whispers and unnecessary rumours on the floor are making her head spin. She walked into the washroom and tried to compose herself.
To say she was hurt will be an understatement.
She couldn't believe that he was engaged.
But why he didn't say anything about it?
Maybe she was lying!
But why would a girl lie about such a huge thing?
Maybe he didn't want anyone to know.
One thing that's eating her up is why did he come so close to her and ignited some feelings for him when he was already engaged?
And here she thought that maybe he likes her.
It's not his mistake too as he didn't say anything about it anytime. Maybe she had imagined everything and looked into it too much.
Maybe there was nothing between them.
She felt hurt that atleast he should have told her as she is feeling like an idiot now for having feelings for him.
Tears fell from her eyes.
She mentally groaned as to why she had to realise her feelings for him now that too when she got to know about his engagement.
She washed her face and stayed there for sometime until she felt calm. She can handle this......she just needed go back to herself like how she used to be at first when she joined the office.
She resumed her work and suddenly whole office went silent. She looked up to see everyone were looking at Rishabh who was coming towards his cabin with his eyes on his phone.
He stopped in his tracks and looked around to see everyone whispering around. He frowned and walked towards Aadhya. She looked at him blankly and his frown deepened.
She silently walked towards his cabin with him following behind her and kept some files on his table.
" The files you asked for Sir." She said and turned to see him standing too close to her.
She immediately stepped back.
" Aadhya what happened?" He asked confused.
" Nothing Sir." Saying this she walked out quickly.
She sighed in relief when she sat on her chair. She needs to stay away from him, it's not good to be close to your boss especially when he is engaged.
Rishabh found her behaviour wierd.
She is still the same girl as he met her for the first time but nowadays he could see her eyes soften when she looks at him but today he saw those empty eyes again.
After sometime, she knocked on his door and came inside.
" Sir, these are the people who wants appointment to meet you and the last name is....." He cuts her off.
" Aadhya, let it be and I wanted to ask you if I can come to your house this weekend to meet Aman." He asked.
She looked surprised at him but again she remembered that she could not let him to get close to them more than already he is.
" Please don't bother Sir, it's not necessary for you to meet him." She blurted but then realised that she said it rudely.
" What do you mean?" He asked narrowing his eyes at her.
" Sorry sir, I didn't mean to be rude.....We have some important work this weekend." She said blankly and left his cabin.
He sat baffled in his seat as everything was going fine between them until this morning and he doesn't understand what must have happened that she is being so cold to him.
He glanced at her and saw her staring off into the space.
She looked drifted.
He was concerned if something is bothering her and so he called her inside his cabin.
" Sir?" She asked.
" How many meetings are there for tomorrow?"
" Only one Sir." She replied and he stayed calm.
" Anything else Sir?" She asked.
" Yes." He replied.
" What Sir?" She asked.
" Is everything alright? Are you okay?" He asked standing in front of her.
" Yes Sir."
" But you don't seem so." He said and held his hand out to touch her arm.
She immediately moved back.
" I am alright Sir, I will go back to work." She said and left hurriedly.
He frowned at her behaviour.
After sometime, his manager came in.
" Sir, these are the files which needs your signatures." He said.
He started signing them.
" Sir?" He called.
" Yes." He said not looking up.
" Congratulations!" He said.
" What?" He asked confused.
" We didn't know that you were engaged." His manager said smiling at him.
" WHAT?" He asked getting up from his seat and his manager looked scared.
" Who said that I am engaged?" Rishabh asked frowning.
" Your Fiancee came to the office today to meet you Sir." He replied.
" I don't have any fiancee and I am not engaged!" Rishabh exclaimed loudly.
" But Sir she said to Aadhya that she is your Fiancee." He said.
" She said that to Aadhya?" Rishabh asked shocked.
" Yes Sir." He replied.
" Who is that girl?" Rishabh asked gritting his teeth.
" I don't know Sir, Aadhya knows." Saying this he went away while Rishabh sat in his seat holding his head.
Now he understood why Aadhya was behaving so weirdly with him.
He looked at the paper which Aadhya kept on his table which had the list of names who wanted to meet him and the last name caught his attention where some Leena's name was mentioned as his fiancee.
He glanced at Aadhya's desk and saw it was empty. It's already 6 pm, so she must have already left.
He doesn't even know this girl who claims to be his fiancee and he knows that it's definitely related to his mother. He needs to go home and sort out this matter first with his mother.
She went too far this time.
*
It's 10:30 pm and was raining heavily.
But along with rain came thunders and lightening.
Aman is very scared of them and couldn't sleep. Even Aadhya was scared by those loud thunders but right now she isn't worried about her fear, she just want to comfort Aman who was hugging her tightly out of fear.
Tears slipped out of her eyes when she remembered how their parents used to comfort them but there is no one to console them right now. She trembled when a loud thunder echoed and clutched Aman to her chest tightly.
She felt a soft touch on her cheek and looked down to see Aman wiping her tears.
" Mumma, don't worry I am here with you.....please don't cry." Aman said with tears looking at Aadhya.
A sob escaped from her mouth at his words and cried hugging him tightly.
They both sat like that whole night as they couldn't sleep at all as whenever their eyes get closed, they wake up either due to the loud thunders or due to the nightmares. Nightmares along with thunders didn't help them at all.
Somewhere in the morning Aman fell asleep when it stopped raining. She tried to sleep but she couldn't and thought about her life.
She shouldn't have let Rishabh in. He would leave eventually which will hurt her for sure but she is not worried of her getting hurt, she is worried of Aman getting hurt in the whole process.
Aman is getting used to Rishabh a lot which is not good for him as Rishabh will not stay with them forever and when he leaves, Aman will be devastated.....again.
She couldn't let it happen.
They should stay away from him.
It's better for three of them.
She looked at the time and it was 6 am already. She got up from her bed and went to freshen up. Later, she sat on the sofa sipping on her coffee staring at the drawing of Aman which she decorated on the table.
She smiled sadly looking at it.
She prepared breakfast for them and went to get shower. She thought that she would ask leave for Aman today and called up his teacher. She took permission from teacher and started getting ready for the office.
She looked into the mirror brushing her hair and she stared at her reflection.
She couldn't recognise herself anymore.
The girl in the mirror is not her.
And she knows she can never go back to herself as she was dead that day itself along with her whole family.
The girl staring right back at her looked empty and lifeless.
She chuckled bitterly at the thought that she could ever be happy.
She doesn't want any happiness, she just wants Aman's happiness.
The reason she is still alive today and breathing is just for him.
Door bell rang and she opened the door to see her driver.
" Harish ji, Aman is not going to school today. He is sleeping, please take care of him when he wakes up." She told him and he nodded his head.
" Baby ji, you look worn out....why don't you also take leave today?" He asked.
" What is the use of taking leave when I can't even sleep?" She sighed pouring some coffee in a cup.
" Have this coffee." She gave him cup and went to her room.
He sighed sadly as he could do nothing for them. He clearly remembers how once this family used to be always happy and cheerful. He was the driver of Aadhya's father and they always took care of him and his family like their family.
That's why he couldn't leave Aadhya and Aman after that accident. Though she didn't want anyone around them and removed all the staff, he stuck around knowing that they would need him.
He didn't want to leave them alone especially when Aadhya was not in the right state of mind at that time. He was scared to death when he found her trying to kill herself after the funeral and rushed to stop her.
And from that day, he didn't leave her alone although she didn't agree for his presence to be around. Things started to get a little better when they shifted to this house leaving their mansion.
Though he doesn't have much work to do in this house, he sticks around so that he can be there when they needed someone. She pays him much more than his father used to pay him even though he didn't agree for that.
She is just stubborn like that.
" Harish ji, I am going to office.....I prepared breakfast. Feed Aman and you also eat it." She said going out.
" You look so tired, I will drive you there baby ji." He said going towards the car.
" No, it's okay....you be here with Aman." She said.
" He is still asleep, I will drop you and come home." He said sitting in the driver seat.
" Okay, you are so stubborn." She muttered.
He didn't said anything and just started driving. He doesn't want to take any risk of something happening to her.
" How are bhabi and Teja?" She asked about his wife and kid after sitting sometime in silence.
" They are fine baby ji, she keeps asking about you." He said smiling slightly.
" It's been a long time since I had met her." She said staring outside the window.
They reached the office and Harish just stared silently at the office. Aadhya looked at him who was drowned in nostalgia and understood what he must he thinking.
" Harish ji, are you okay?" She asked concerned and he snapped his gaze towards her.
" Ha Baby ji." He said looking away from her and composed himself.
" I will come and pick you up in the evening baby ji." Saying this he drove away the car leaving her standing there with her thoughts.
She never thought that many people are affected by the whole thing along with her too and looking at Harish today she realised how much impact he must have had because of accident.
Though she didn't agree for him to work for her, he never left them and stood up by her side in every way possible.
Rishabh saw her standing outside the office sitting in his car and he felt helpless looking her like that so broken. He wanted to do something for her so that she will be smiling always but he doesn't know what to do.
If only she lets him in and shares her concern with him then he would do anything to heal her wounds and make her happy but she wouldn't.
He looked at her who is still standing there staring at the office emotionally and he couldn't decipher what she is thinking. He came early today to office so that he can talk to her but looking at her mood now, he doesn't know how to do it.
He went inside after she had gone inside waiting for sometime in his car and for the first time in his life he felt nervous.
This girl unknowingly makes him feel all the new things he had ever known.
He walked out of the elevator and Aadhya was surprised to see him so early in the office.
She was about to greet him but he went straight to his cabin without giving her any chance and she went to pantry to take coffee for him.
She knocked on his door and went inside.
" Sir coffee." She kept the coffee on his table and stood there preparing herself to talk to him.
He looked at her who is fidgetting and thought maybe he should talk to her right now.
" Aadhya....."
" Sir....."
Both started at the same time and looked at each other.
" You go first." He said and regretted immediately for asking her to speak up first as he was shocked when she spoke.
" I don't want you to meet Aman anymore."
