"Omoo, Kim Soo-hyun is so cute!"

"Gooodddd, Ek plate aisa husband laga do Bhagwan ji please!"

( Godd, please give me such a husband)

"I'm going to die single. At this point, I've lost all hope of ever finding a man like him—"

"God, he's so cute! The way he looks at his wife is just adorable."

I was lost in my thoughts, blabbering while watching the K-drama Queen of Tears, earbuds firmly plucked in my ears and iPad resting comfortably against pillow in front of my eyes. I was sprawled on the bed, chin resting on my palm, elbow digging into the mattress.

"Lavi, stop crying!" A loud voice jolted me from my K-drama reverie. I pulled out my earbuds to see Shanaya, my roomie, looking at me with a mix of concern and frustration.

"Give me a moment! My hubby just punched Eun-seong—Ohhh God, Baek Hyun-woo is too hot for this scene!" I started fanning my face, which was turning red from blushing and grinning at the 'too hot to handle' scene unfolding on my screen.

Life is so unfair.

I deserve my own Baek Hyun-woo who could punch anyone for me.

But alas, life isn't a K-drama, it's a trauma.

It makes me so sad that I can't just slip inside my iPad and live in the world created by the writer.

It's just so heartbreakingly beautiful.

Shanaya was staring at me, eyes wide in shock. For your information, she's not a K-drama fan, so she always overreacts to my dramatic reactions.

Right now, I was crying over thinking about the tragic ending of the drama while she was rolling her eyes and looking thoroughly exasperated.

'It should be declared a crime to hate K-dramas! How can anyone dislike these beautiful love stories? I bet she's an alien.'

"You should roam around and see the world instead of burying your nose in books or an iPad," she said, throwing a pillow at me.

"When I can see the world comfortably from my bed, there's no need to go anywhere," I replied with a sheepish smile. "And for your information, the real world is fucked up. Let me live in my fictional world with my Baek Hyun-woo."

She gave me a judgmental look, clearly unimpressed.

"Okay, but you're coming with me to England this vacation. You promised," she said, raising an eyebrow.

I glanced at her, contemplating. "I'll think about it."

"Don't you dare ditch me at the last moment."

"Never," I said, squinting my eyes playfully. She smiled and blew a kiss at me.

After that, we ordered pizza and watched a random football match together because that's the only thing Shanaya Agrawal is interested in.

Damn, I'm not judging her, but how can someone have just one source of entertainment?

I mean, having only one choice is kind of weird, right?

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

The whole last week has been spent grinding to complete our assignments and quizzes.

It's overwhelming, but in the end, it will all be worth it—every sleepless night, every tear I've shed missing my family, and every frustrating exam week.

In the end, when I become 'Dr. Lavika Mehra' instead of just 'Lavika Mehra,' it will all be worth it.

"Should I book tickets for tomorrow, Lavi?" Shanaya asked as she stepped out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel. I glanced at the ceiling for a moment before replying, "I've got a few classes left. You go ahead, I'll join you a day before your birthday."

"Are you sure you're not going to ditch me?" she asked, raising an eyebrow for confirmation.

"Nah, girl, I promise," I said with a wink. "If you have any doubts, book the ticket for the day before your birthday."

She nodded. "Okay, I'm trusting you." With that, she went off to make the arrangements, and I went back to my book.

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

She left for England, and I got busy finishing up my remaining classes.

I had to complete them before her birthday, otherwise, she'll kill me if I missed it.

I'd already informed my parents that I was going to England.

They wanted me to come to India, but after I explained that I'd promised Shanaya, they told me to go to England instead.

I miss my family, but I'll wait until Christmas to see them.

  ✯

I settled into my seat on the plane. It wasn't too crowded, and the seat beside me was empty, so I could sit comfortably however I wanted.

I had booked a window seat, which made the journey even more peaceful.

The flight from Moscow to London would take about four hours, and I planned to close my eyes and listen to my Bollywood playlist.

What a peaceful flight it would be.

Last time, when I was traveling from India, a little kid was sitting beside me.

Honestly, I was about to cry because the kid was so annoying.

I usually like kids, but this one felt like Satan's heir.

Thank goodness I'm sitting alone this time.

After four long hours, the flight finally landed.

Fifteen minutes later, we exited the plane.

The weather here is so chilly.

Shanaya always talks about London's unpredictable weather—no one knows when it will snow, when the sun will shine so brightly it blinds you, or when it will rain with a storm.

Right now, it's only 2 in the afternoon, but it's so dark it feels like it's about to rain and flood the entire world.

I actually like this weather—the kind before the rain.

The chilly wind and dark clouds are my favorite.

"Woww," I gasped, admiring the view of London's streets from the cab.

It was even more beautiful than in the pictures—so aesthetic, almost too fictional to be real.

Everything was perfect, from the little cafes to the charming red phone booths with aesthetic lamps beside them.

Dayum, can I just roam the streets for a while? It's so beautiful, I didn't want to miss this chance.

I stopped the cab driver and stepped out with my trolley bag and small purse hanging from my shoulders.

I started walking on the footpath, the chilly air washing over my face, making me shiver but leaving a smile on my face.

I popped into a small café to grab a drink. I ordered a chocolate latte, savoring its sweetness as I stepped outside.

It was freezing and delightful.

I cleared my throat, appreciating how good it was.

Lost in my thoughts, I was jolted when someone pushed the café door open, nearly slamming it into me.

The collision sent me stumbling, and I braced myself to hit the ground.

But before I could, I felt hands around my waist and another hand gripping my wrist.

I opened my eyes to find myself staring into light brown eyes.

Oh.

I was almost lost in the moment, forgetting we were in public.

He cleared his throat, snapping me back to reality.

I glanced down at his hands—one around my waist, the other holding my wrist, preventing me from spilling my cold latte.

Thank goodness!

I immediately jerked away from his hold and looked around, relieved to see that no one seemed to care about the unexpected scene unfolding in the café.

My gaze returned to the tall figure in front of me, who was still staring at me intensely.

"Thank you," I murmured.

He tucked his lower lip between his teeth without showing any emotion, and I felt a rush of heat in my cheeks.

GOD, this was hot. Get a grip, Lavika.

GET A DAMN GRIP, LAVIKA!

"Next time, don't push the door like that. You could've hurt someone," I said, brushing past him. I heard him mutter, "What an ungrateful animal."

I could've argued about being called an animal, but I chose to ignore it.

I could barely stand straight with his eyes boring into me like—

Like a predator assessing its prey!

What a great welcome to England.

But he didn't seem British.

The whole way, I couldn't stop thinking about him. Why?

I only saw him for a few seconds, yet he occupied my thoughts all the way.

God, this is ridiculous.

I only clearly remember his eyes because I didn't have time to take in his whole appearance.
