And they lived happily ever after!!! But was it really happily ever after for Swara and Sanskar? Swara and Sa... More
Swara opened her eyes, feeling movement under her head. Sanskar's deep sleep was broken from the sunray's entering inside their room from an open window. He was disturbed with bright sunlight, she could see it from his crinkled over his face. With a squeezed forehead and pouty face he looked cute to her. Her 'Mr. Cutest Maheshwari.'
Her lips stretched when she remembered how she used to irritate him by calling him 'Cute.... Cute sweet little boy!''
It was after a long time she had seen such cuteness overloaded on her husband's face. She could not move her eyes from his face.
She felt his hot breath over her neck, he was burying his face in the crook of her neck to avoid sun rays. She raised her hand to caress his jet black thick hair. It was after a long time she was seeing him sleeping peacefully. Truly, she missed it in these months.
Her eyes filled with tears, remembering last night's events.
'He was facing depression.'
'He was on his anti depressant pills.'
'Because of one wrong decision.'
'Why did I do that? I know we both cannot stay without each other but still... What had happened to me? Why did I take him for granted? Why did I put our relationship on stake?'
Thought brought back guilt, anger and feebleness which started streaming over her cheeks in the form of tears. Days of their separation started replaying in front of her eyes. A drop of tear fell on his neck which disturbed his sleep.
"Swara" He blinked his eyes.
Swara turned her face to the other side to avoid his intense gaze.
"Please stop crying, Swara. It's over." He held her face and made her look into his eyes.
Swara could never hide anything from his eyes. He knew what was going on in her mind with just one simple look. She turned to his side burying her face in his chest, letting her tears fall soaking in his t-shirt.
"Let's forget it." He mumbled, he kept on caressing her hairs saying soothing words in her ears.
"Promise me you will never consume those pills again." She could hardly murmur in between her muffles. This time she matched her teary swollen eyes to his.
"Promise you." He kissed her forehead sealing his promise. He caressed her cheeks, her swollen red eyes were always his weakness.
His phone started ringing, breaking their moment. He got up unwillingly to pick it up. Swara kept on staring at him without a blink; she could not hear anything from the other side but Sanskar's silence over the call left her in puzzlement.
'Please Sanskar... please stay at home. Don't leave me.' She hoped. Today, she needed him the most.
"Mike, I am not coming to the office today. Either cancel my meetings or reschedule them in the next two days." His statement came as a sweet surprise for Swara, a small smile laced over her lips.
"No... No... I can't make it for today." Swara was hearing her husband with a wide open mouth. It was for the first time after her return he was staying at home.
"Ok, I will join the meeting from home, send me all the conference call details." Saying this he cut the call after passing a few more instructions.
"You are not going to the office." She sat on the bed. He was typing something on the phone.
"Yes. I am not going. You must be having a headache. It's better if I stay at home." Sanskar knew, Swara's crying sessions always resulted in a painful headache. He was well aware about his wife, if he did not stay at home she would neglect her health.
'He knows me best.' Her cheeks started painting with red colour.
"I will take a shower. You sleep for some more time." He got up and closed the curtains of the room.
Swara could not sleep, she kept on waiting for him. He returned from the washroom when Swara entered. It came as a surprise for Sanskar, when Swara did not leave from their room after her daily routine.
Sanskar was mentally preparing himself to restrict her from going outside to do household work as usual but today, she settled herself beside him.
"Don't you want to go downstairs?" He asked in astonishment.
"You are staying at home because of my headache, right? Then how can I go downstairs when I am not well?" She raised her eyebrows. She snuggled on his side holding his arm like a little stubborn girl.
Sanskar gaped like a fish, she was not the Swara he knew from the last two years. Swara, he knew would keep herself at the last when it came to their family. But he was falling in love once again with this new Swara.
He shook his head and buried inside Mac which was on his lap.
She kept on moving her long fingers on his cheeks, his neckline, his hairs. She was just playing around giving ticklish feelings to him. But he was also Sanskar Maheshwari, he did not budge to her any efforts.
"Is this work important?" She asked annoyingly, pointing towards Mac..
"Yes. I need to reply back for a few emails." He concentrated back, shaking his head.
Her efforts were making it difficult for him to concentrate. If it was someone else disturbing him in his work, he would have lash out at the person long back but here it was Swara, his beloved wife.
"Ok." She kept her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes feeling solace in her mind and soul. She clinged to his body, he wrapped his other hand around her sleeping figure and kept on tapping on her arm, helping her to slip in deep slumber.
An hour passed, when there was a knock on the door. He cursed the intruder, Swara's sleep got disturbed with continuous bang.
Sanskar went to open the door as Swara started waking up blinking her eyes..
"Ragini?" He opened the door.
"Swara? Where is she? She did not come downstairs today? I was worried for her."
"She is not feeling good. She is sleeping." He did not give her way inside their room.
"What happened?" Ragini raised her eyebrows.
"Who is there, Sanskar?" By now Swara was awake. Sanskar turned to his wife, taking this as an opportunity Ragini entered inside.
"Swara what happened to you?"
"Nothing Ragini, just a little headache. I am fine." Swara was still sitting on the bed.
"But what happened suddenly, yesterday you were all fine and now..." Ragini turned perplexed looking at Swara's pale face.
"I said nothing, Ragini. I am fine. There is nothing to worry about." Swara tried to convince.
"Do you want me to make some Kaddha for you? I will stay with you, as Sanskar will be leaving for office soon." Suddenly, Ragini's heart was filled with sister's love.
"Thanks Ragini but Sanskar is staying at home." Swara could not suppress her inner happiness.
"No but still I will stay with you if you need any help." Ragini turned adamant.
"That's so sweet of you Ragini, but I think I will be good. If I need anything I will let Sanskar know about it. Will you please help Mom and Badi Ma with today's household work?" Swara made a puppy look.
Sanskar was working on his Mac but his full concentration was on sister's talks. His fingers halted for a moment when his wife was trying her best to kick her sister out of their room. He pressed his lips to suppress his chuckle.
Later, after long efforts from Swara, Ragini left their room.
The entire morning and afternoon Swara and Sanskar stayed inside their room. In the late afternoon, Sanskar had to join one business call, he saw Swara in deep slumber under medicine's impact. He went out thinking not to disturb her sleep, leaving a note beside her table with his reason for abrupt absence.
After almost half an hour Swara woke up, she roamed her eyes over each corner of the room to find her husband. She saw a note on her night table.
'I have to join one meeting... I cannot skip it. Don't worry, I am still at home just downstairs study. Didn't want to disturb your sleep. Don't need to get up from bed, you are still weak. I will be back to our room in an hour or two.'
Love,
Sanskar.
She read his message, a smile automatically crept over her lips looking at his caring gesture. Swara sat on bed following her husband's instructions. She took her phone and typed.
'Missing you.'
'Will be back soon.' His reply was instant this time.
Within two days, Swara was back to herself, she was in the garden giving water to plants when Ragini came with a tray filled with afternoon tea and snacks followed by her mother-in-laws.
Maheshwari ladies were having a good time discussing household chores when Ragini asked carefully, "Swara, is everything alright between you and Sanskar?"
Her question left all other three in a dumbfounded state.
"What happened, Ragini?" Annapurna asked even before Swara could come up with an answer.
"Nothing Badi Maa. Ragini, what are you even asking?." This time Swara replied uncomfortably.
"Swara, two days back, I saw your swollen eyes. You had cried over something. As your sister, I need to know what has happened?" Ragini could not understand her sister's reluctance.
"There was nothing Ragini." Swara tried to cover up. She did not like it when her sister broached a sensitive topic in front of their mother in laws. In fact, she did not like her sister's interference in her matters... for the first time.
"Swara, we all know there is something wrong between you and Sanskar. He is not himself to you and to our family as well even after a long time. We all know he loves you but his actions, his words are impacting you. I know, his aloof and distant behaviour with everyone in the family is disturbing you. He should now leave the past and move on. It's high time. As a sister, I cannot see you in pain. Do you want me or any of us to talk to him?" Ragini's words baffled Swara.
Her sister was openly discussing her personal life, which was turning intolerable by each passing word.
Annapurna and Sujata shifting their eyes between two daughter in laws.
Swara stayed silent for a moment, not moving her eyes from her sister's face.
"I am glad to see your concerns towards me, Ragini, but I will not appreciate your or any third person's interference in my married life. Let me and Sanskar handle our own issues as a matured married couple." Swara took a deep breath before answering. It was hard for Swara to keep her voice gentle.
"I just want to help you, Swara, the way you always helped me and Laksh to sort out our differences." Ragini was left shocked with her sister's response.
"Ragini, you always came to me in the past asking for help. If I need it I will surely ask, but right now, I think we should be good for now." This time Swara could not suppress agitation from her tone.
"But Swara?"
"Ragini please." Swara pleaded and gulped her tea in one go. She left behind three confused minds.
"What was that Ragini?" You have not told us anything. Was there any issue?" Annapurna asked when it was sure Swara was away.
Ragini told the entire 온라인카지노게임 of the morning when she had gone to Swara and Sanskar's room.
"I think they had a fight due to which Swara was disturbed." Ragini concluded.
"Jiji and Ragini, let them solve their issues. She said she will ask for help if needed." Sujata defended hoping to get happiness for her child.
Ragini's words brought back memories of that night pushing Swara again in her shell. She started going through with old pictures of her and Sanskar. But her thoughts still lingered around their last night's encounter. Her mind and heart was unsettled to know about his depression.
Now, she could connect all dots of his reserved behaviour, his anxiousness and nervousness upon her arrival. His insecurity about their relationship has reached its peak and she could not deny her past actions were solely responsible for his state of mind.
After a long thought she gave a call to her friend who was practising psychiatrist to discuss Sanskar's health. Both friends talked for a long time before cutting the call.
"Swara, whatever you told me, on that basis, I have come to a conclusion that your husband is facing a deep down inferiority complex when it comes to your family. He is feeling that he is not a priority for you. He loves you a lot and because of it only he is ignoring all the blunders happening in your two's married life, but this ignorance is impacting his mental health. Though, he must not have been showing it to you lately but there is a lot going on in it. You have to sort it out."
"Try to spend maximum time with him. Make him your first priority over any other relation. Assure him that nothing in this world will make you guys apart. He only needs your assurance. No medication or any treatment can heal him but you. You are his remedy. In fact you both are each other's cure.''
Her friend's words started haunting her for the next two days. Swara thought a lot and an idea popped inside her little head. She had decided to discuss it with Sanskar on their 'Me Time'.
"Sanskar, I want to learn how to drive." She spoke suddenly out of nowhere when his gaze was fixed on the starry sky.
"That's good." He could hardly mumble with unsurety. He knew of her past reluctance when he had asked her to learn driving."But now suddenly?"
"Will you teach me?" She ignored his amusement, it was her way to spend more time with him.
"Me? Why? I mean you can join any driving class."
"No... those instructors do shout at their students." She twitched her nose. Of course she needed a reason to push back.
"How do you know?" He asked, narrowing his eyes. As per his knowledge, she never tried to learn driving.
"When I was in college, I took a few lessons but then that instructor was so mad at me. I told him to get lost." She rolled her eyes.
"Why was he mad at you?" His curiosity reached its peak.
"Because my foot was not reaching till break due to my height. And he was asking me to stop the car. So I was searching for a break looking down." Her cute grumpy pout earned a chuckle from Sanskar.
"What? Stop laughing ok?" She hit his shoulder.
"Nothing. So now do you think you have a good height to pull the brakes of the car?" He pressed his lips with raised eyebrows.
"I don't know but you are going to teach me. And that's final." She crossed her arms like a little stubborn kid. His dominating wife was back.
"Ok. So you have to get up early, Mrs. Sanskar Maheshwari. In the morning, there will be less traffic."
'Mrs. Sanskar Maheshwari' in his husky voice gave shudders down her spine.
From the next day, they started their routine to do Swara's driving lessons early in the morning. Half an hour of their togetherness early morning lightened their rest of the day. Swara was a fast learner, she learned to drive a car within just two weeks but still they kept their routine and none of them voiced their opposition. Early morning drive to the river side accompanied with piping hot Kulhadwali Tea became a way to start their day.
It was a weekend, after Swara and Sanskar's driving lesson, both joined family for breakfast. Everyone was already there waiting for them.
"Thank god Bhai you and Swara came. I was waiting for you two only. I have something to announce." Laksh said, happiness was radiating from his voice as well as face.
"What is Laksh? Tell us. We all are eager to know about it." Annapurna was beyond happy looking at her son's happiness.
"Ma, you remember my old college friend Ashish?" Laksh continued ignoring confused faces over the dining table.
"He started one construction company a few years back. And last time when we met he had offered me partnership in it. Earlier, I was not interested but... lately I thought, I should also establish something which is my own, same as Bhai. So I joined him last month. And we as partners got our first deal signed yesterday." Laksh spoke without taking a breath.
There was a pin drop silence over the dining hall which soon turned into loud gasps and smiles. Annapurna got up from her seat and pulled her son in a bear hug while congratulating him. She asked servants to make something sweet to celebrate.
Durga prasad and Ram also wished him along with other members of the family including Swara and Sanskar.
"Laksh have you checked everything properly? Have you asked our family lawyer to go through partnership deeds and all other legal formalities?" Durgaprasad knew his impulsive son. He was proud of his accomplishments but one part of his mind was filled with concern.
"Yes Papa, don't worry."
"Why don't you tell everyone about your first deal, Laksh?" Ragini asked, beaming with happiness. One part of her heart always used to feel jealous with her sister over her husband's accomplishments and success. With the recent breakage of news, she was content.
"Kalibadi Reconstruction." Laksh took a few moments before breaking the silence of the dining area.
All eyes were on the couple, eyes filled with confusion, perplexion.
"Badi Reconstruction?" Swara muttered to herself audible only to her husband who was sitting beside her, she felt tears welled up in her eye lids. The place she grew up, where she spent her childhood, was soon going to get demolished.
"Laksh what does it mean?" Durgaprasad asked, scrunching his forehead.
"Papa, as we all know, Badi was constructed some 60-70 years ago. That structure is now very old. And as per the latest municipality act of reconstruction it is eligible for demolition. So, our company will demolish Badi and we will build two towers over there. Badi's residents will get a flat in the tower and we will sell off other remaining flats." Laksh provided additional information.
"Ma and Baba agreed on this?" Swara asked in trance. Her mind was still trying to process Laksh's words.
"Yes Swara, Ma and Papa agreed, they even signed an NOC. Infact it was Baba who made other residents of Badi to agree for this proposal. It took two full weeks to get everyone's alignment" Ragini smiled brightly, from her shining face, Swara knew Ragini was aware about all happenings from the start.
"Ohh, I didn't know.'' Her parents did not feel it necessary to talk to her about such a sensitive topic before deciding; left a scar on her mind and heart. She blinked her eyes to push back tears bending down her head in her breakfast plate.
Sanskar's whole concentration was on his wife, he knew how much painful it would be for her. He forwarded his hand to hold her under the table.
Swara felt his assured touch which made her look at him. He blinked, shaking his head asking her not to cry in a silent gesture.
"But Laksh, in Badi there are a lot more people residing, it's not only about Gadodia's. What is going to happen with them?" Ram asked logically.
"Chachu, as Ragini said, Shekhar Papa and Shomi Ma helped us to convince them. As per current plan we are hoping to get completion of the project in 3 years. New towers will be more convenient as well as nested with all modern amenities. It's a win-win situation for both parties." Laksh reasoned out.
"But 3 years? Where will they stay?" Durgaprasad asked with curiosity.
"Papa, we made an agreement with all of them, we will provide rent for next three years as per their current house square feets." Laksh was ready for all questions bombarded over him.
"Did everyone agree?"
"Not all, there are few who still have some objections which we are handling but 90% of residents are in favour so we can go ahead, that's what our legal team is advising." Laksh was on top of the world. It was for the first time he got an opportunity to prove himself. He was not under the shadow of his father or uncle or brother.
Durgaprasad kept on asking him about agreement and deal. He was hoping for a long drilling session from his nephew to his son, he was disappointed looking at Sanskar's distant behaviour. His nephew was more concerned about his breakfast than his own brother.
After breakfast, Swara came back to her room. The moment she stepped inside, tears started flowing over her cheeks. She felt a palm on her shoulder, she knew it was her soulmate. She turned in a swift moment and buried her face in his chest.
Sanskar enveloped her in his secured embrace caressing her long hair.
"Do you want me to talk to Laksh?" His voice was filled with unsurety and reluctance but in front of her tears he never cared about anything.
"No." She broke their hug, shaking her head in denial instantly.
'Ofcourse, she won't want me to be a barrier to her sister's wellbeing.' His insecure mind snapped.
"I don't want you to interfere because I want to guard us, our relationship from any future chaos." She had already read his thoughts from his shivering eyes. "Their hasty decisions and immature ways to handle situations have caused us a lot in the past. I don't want us to suffer again." A drop of tear rolled over her cheek.
"We can just hope and pray that they will not make any mistakes. And get all deserving success."
Sanskar nodded his head in agreement, still one part of his heart was anxious about her stand.
"I am feeling bad because Badi, the place I grew up in, is going to get demolished. I have my childhood memories stored over there." She became silent.
She took a deep breath with closed eyes and continued, "But change is the only persistence in our life. If one cannot change with time then he will be left behind, Dida always used to say this."
"And about your memories, they are not stored behind those four walls but are safe in your heart, which will always give your peace and happiness." He cupped her face, still keeping his eyes on her.
"My happiness and peace lies in you Sanskar. You are my home." Her honest words touched his heart. He pulled her face to kiss her forehead.
Sanskar left for his office but his mind was surrounded with Laksh's talk. Brotherly intuition and hard core businessman instinct inside Sanskar could not absorb the deal's proceedings. Over the years of experience had alerted him about the blunder his brother was pushing himself in.
He knew it was not possible to finalise such fancy deals overnight, one would require years of expertise and deliberation, planning and organising skill with due diligence to crack down such enticing business proposals. For any onlooker, the terms and conditions looked too good to be true but Sanskar was not anyone, he was intelligent, sharp. Years of experience had cultivated him into a shrewd businessman.
'Sanskar please talk to Laksh about this new deal, if possible.' He read a message from his Bade Papa.
Laksh was naive in business, he was an easy target for any one to manipulate. He was a person who always preferred short term gains ignoring long term harmful impacts.
'This all looks too filmy. There has to be some glitch. It's not the way it all looks.'
'Should I talk to Laksh about the deal?'
'No... for sure he will not appreciate my interference. He will feel I am envious of his success. And his wife will blame me for his failures. Swara won't be able to see her sister's agony.' His insecure mind snapped.
'It will again impact my and Swara's relationship. Though she mentioned today to safeguard our relationship from their chaos but... after all we are talking about Swara. Family always comes first for her. Bond of SwaRagini will overpower anything.' He knew his wife, if she could forgive her sister who tried to kill her, defame her then she could do anything for her.
'Should I keep myself away from this?'
'But then if something goes wrong all will point their fingers at me that even being his elder brother, I did not do anything to protect my brother.' It was his thought based on the last blunder.
'Why Laksh? Why do you always put me at juncture?'
Sanskar's head started throbbing with pain with back to back thoughts. He closed his eyes, resting his head on the headrest of his chair.
'No, I have to sort this out as a businessman, I cannot handle this as a personal matter. I have to take a step by step approach. First thing, I need to find out about the integrities of this deal. Then based on the complexities I will decide which way to go.' Finally he came to a conclusion.
'Roger, please find out about the Kalibadi reconstruction deal. I need to know each and everything from partners to partnership deed, to all terms and conditions, government permissions and licences, who is in favour? Who is opposing? Who is their legal head? Who is looking after accounts.... in short everything.' He typed and hit the send button to message his security chief.
He took a deep breath and then held Swara's pic in his hand which was on his desk.
'I hope you will trust me this time, Swara. I need you by my side. If you are there I can fight with the whole world. Please... please trust me and our love.'
