V.                                              Heartbreak Weather

Warning: Mentions of Sexual Assault

Odessa felt herself growing closer to Eli and she was scared to death. He wasn't afraid of her. He wasn't grossed out by her. He didn't treat her like the school slut. His mood lifted when he was with her. He smiled more. He laughed more. He wasn't as shy as he used to be. Demetri noticed it and her friends noticed it. They were two different people when they were with each other.

But Oliver was cautious. He knew boy's intentions with Odessa. He'd been around long enough to see it all. He was the first person to know about what happened with Joey. He was the first person she told about what happened at the movie theater with Michael Allen. (He put his hand up her skirt and his hand on her breasts. When she said no, he left her at the theater.) Oliver broke his nose and gave him a concussion.

The second time it happened, Odessa told Hailey first. Dalton Vaughn, freshman year, he invited her over to his house (His parents weren't home) and tried to force her to have sex with him. Hailey shoved his face into a glass window until it shattered and he lost a tooth. Oliver beat the shit out of him during a game of football. Grayson almost blew his knee out during a game of soccer.

They weren't just best friends. They were family. You don't fuck with family.

But being around Eli was like being able to breath again. He was a breath of fresh air. Odessa never learned her lesson when it came to boys. But Eli was different. She felt it. He would never take advantage of her, or anyone else. She hoped, anyway.

When she saw Sam in the girl's bathroom, leaning against the sink like she had before, Odessa furrowed her brows. "Sam, are you okay?" She announced herself.

Samantha's cries stopped and she flinched when she saw her. "Odessa, you scared me. It's nothing. I'm fine." She lied.

The blonde stepped closer to her. "You don't have to lie to me, Sam. What's wrong?"

Sam wiped away her tears. "You haven't heard? Kyler's telling everyone that I went down on him in a movie theater just cause I told him to get off me."

She cried again and looked away. Odessa stood there, silently in shock, and nodded her head. "Sound familiar?" She almost laughed.

The brunette's face dropped and she covered her face with her hands. "Oh my god, I feel like such an idiot. I'm so sorry, Odessa—"

Odessa put a hand on the girl's back. "Hey it's okay, i'm not mad. Don't feel like an idiot. It's not your fault. No means no and he clearly doesn't understand that. Someone outta teach him a lesson." He comforted her.

Sam looked at her with a frown. There was no hatred in her eyes or her touch. There was no violent tendencies. "Why are you being so nice to me?"

They didn't have the best hi온라인카지노게임, she knew that. But at one point in time, Odessa and Sam were friends. They spent the night at each other's houses, they went to parties together. Odessa couldn't hate her like she did everyone else. "Because you understand. Nobody else does. We're girls, Sam. We're all that we have."

Hailey was shocked when she saw Odessa and Sam enter the cafeteria together. "Um, am I missing something?" She said out loud, chasing everyone to turned their attention to what she was looking at.

"No way,"  said Grayson, also very confused.

Yasmine put her bag in the empty chair beside her, her indicating to Sam that she wasn't welcome at her table. Odessa was sad for her because she went though it every day. "C'mon, you can sit with us." She told her.

Sam glanced at the table and immediately saw Hailey glaring at her. "Uhh, I don't think that's a good idea."

"Don't worry about them. It's totally okay."

But when she spotted Kyler, Sam forgot about everything else. She stormed up to him, leaving the blonde to stand there with wide eyes. "Sam—"

"You think it's funny to spread lies about me?" Sam said to Kyler, her arms crossed in anger.

"What are you talking about? We saw a movie," the boy fabricated as everyone was listening. With his friends behind him, he smirked. "Or, I saw a little more than you you."

Sam looked embarrassed and angry as everyone laughed. Odessa quickly walked up to her. "Come on, Sam. He's not worth it." She tried to tell her.

"Hey guys, you know that billboard with that big ass dick on it?" Kyler shouted at everyone. "I guess Sam takes after her dad!"

More laughter.

"Looks like you and her have something to bond over, Odessa!"

Oliver stood up. "I'll knock you the fu—"

Miguel put his hand on his shoulder and pushed him back down. "Hey Kyler, why don't you just shut the hell up and stop being such an asshole?" He challenged the bully.

"Want another beatdown, 'Rhea?" Kyler threatened, and pushed him back into a nearby table. "I'm ready for your lame-ass karate this time."

The new kid clenched his jaw. "It's not lame-ass karate." He grabbed the hand that was about to punch him in the face. "It's Cobra Kai!"

He punched him hard in the face. "Oh, shit!" Grayson exclaimed with wide eyes.

Everyone watched as the two went back and forth with their punches, pushing each other into the tables. Kyler wrapped Miguel into a choke hold and the new kid elbowed him hard in the stomach.

"No mercy!" Shouted Aisha.

"Kick his ass, Miguel!" Hailey screamed. Odessa hit her arm.

"Miguel! Miguel! Miguel!" Oliver changed encouragingly.

People pulled out their phones to record the fight. Miguel took one of the lunch trays and started smacking them in the face with it when they came close to him. "Shouldn't someone step in?"  Odessa nervously asked.

Oliver waved his hand.  "Nah he's got it—KICK HIM IN THE BALLS,  MIG!"

Miguel jumped onto the table,  kicking Kyler before
knocking him out with the tray.  Odessa jumped up and down anxiously wrapping her arm around Eli's as the two watched their friend in victory.  Demetri and Hailey were in some form of shock while Oliver and Grayson were pumping their fist in the air and cheering for him loudly.

Blatt entered the rambunctious cafeteria. "Hey,  get down from there right now!" She ordered Miguel and pulled him down from the table.

Oliver stared chanting Miguel's name again and had everyone follow along. "I guess we should consider this whole karate thing,  huh?"  Odessa questioned, her attention directed to Eli.

He nodded his head,  still in shock.

Eli walked her home which caused a permanent smile on her face as she walked through her front door. Thalia poked her head out from inside the kitchen. "Hey, Angel Face!"

"Hey, mom," Odessa responded, joy coating her voice.

Her mom fully showed herself with a mixing bowl and whisk in her hands. "Why do you look so happy?" She asked, her Southern accent and warm smile on display.

Odessa threw her bag on the love chair. "No reason." She said with a high and sat down.

"There's always a reason." Her mom let her taste the chocolate cake batter in the bowl. "What do you think?"

Her daughter hummed. "Needs for vanilla."

Thalia snapped her fingers. "Smart girl." She walked into the kitchen. "Come talk to mama!"

Odessa laughed and followed her. "Hey mom, I have a question." She started.

"Ask away, lovely." Thalia added more vanilla into the batter.

"My friend Miguel was telling me he goes to a karate dojo down town and he asked if I could go with him to his next class?"

The blonde woman paused her mixing and looked at her. "Karate?" She questioned.

Odessa nodded.

"Who's the teacher?"

She racked her brain trying to remember. "Uh, I think Miguel said Lawrence. . . Yeah, yeah, Johnny Lawrence."

She saw the remembrance on her mom's face. "Sure you can, honey. Just be careful." Thalia accepted and went back to mixing in silence.

Odessa narrowed her eyes at the sudden mood change but didn't question it. She said yes. Her mom turned to her again and smiled, making her smile back.
