[CHAPTER TEN] Faces...

Start from the beginning

She showed a sarcastic smile, grinning from ear-to-ear. “Love? Do you even know how to love? You don’t know the word love until you met me, Maisen. Only Sirri Gustav could love you more than anyone else. And a playboy like you could only love Sirri Gustav. Only Srri Gustav, Mark Isen de la Fuente.”

“You’re wrong,” I said meeting her grin. “That old Maisen who’s a womanizer and a good-for-nothing? He’s dead. I already buried him with his foolishness and wrongdoings. The new Maisen’s here,” I pointed at my whole self. “The new Maisen knows how to love… the right woman. I love someone, Sirri. And even though I haven’t seen her again, I know too well what I’m feeling for her. And if you don’t want to be a villain in my 온라인카지노게임, get out of my life. Run. And never come back.”

I already left before she could even speak. I quickly ran to my car and drove myself away from that nightmare. Sirri’s running towards me, trying to wreck my entirety and grounding me in her  doorless cage.

“Sirri Gustav… are you trying to ruin my life again?”

“Midori, will you bring this to the hospital?” My Mom raised the old and shabby sweater she gave me when I was twelve. She was smiling at me like an angel. They arrived yesterday, at dawn. I was not aware when they came. I just woke up with an abundant breakfast on the table and with rose petals scattered on the floor. It led me to the lanai at the back of our house and there I saw her, Dad, Avril and Lolo. They all stopped when they saw me at the door. It was funny how my they all stood like statues— Dad and Lolo on chairs sticking the banner to the wall, Mom fixing the gifts on the box, and Avril scattering roses on the white floor whilst spraying fragrance on the place. They all had their own positions like they were on a charade game and my entrance was the ‘stop’ signal. I laughed as I said, “Okay, I’ll pretend I did not see.” Then I left and after just a minute, Avril came in and told me, “Midori, I found a cat. I put it in the lanai.” We both bit our lips as we tried our hardest not to laugh on our act. He dragged me to the lanai and everything was fully prepared unlike before. We were all laughing and I could not stop questioning why there written on the banner the words, “Welcome back, Midori!” as if I was the one who got home from France.

“Of course. You gave that to me, right?” I said, returning the smile to Mom. I could not stop staring at her. She was older but more beautiful. Her skin was fairer and she was glowing. It was like we were just sisters.

“How about your Mom? Will you bring your Mom to the hospital?”

I hugged her from her back and put my head on her shoulder. “Mom, you’re trying to be an emo, aren’t you?” Then she laughed as I kissed her cheek. “If only I could bring you, Dad, Lolo, Avril, Dwaine, Jane, Flip…” I sighed. “Can I do that?”

“Meg!” We both looked at the doorstep of my room and found my Dad stood there. “Could you please go to Avril’s? He’s asking for my help. He said he will just send Flip home and he needs someone to assist his friend until he gets back.”

“Avril’s restaurant?” Mom asked. “Why? It’s already late. Why isn’t he closing yet?”

“He did. But that friend of his came and of course. It’s a friend, Meg. So the word close is pretentiously not in his vocabulary for a while.”

“I’m packing Midori’s things for her hospital stay. Why don’t you come?” She went to my wardrobe and pulled my green luggage.
