So, if the title didn't give it away, this is about the little writing contest post I made a few (more than a few shdkbdjdjd) days ago. And I pretty much know how I want it to look and go! The judging system was the hardest part b/c you want to be fair and socialistic about it (democracy is an illusion! 👹) and I *believe* I found a way for everyone to have a voice in that process.
Mainly, I had some #questions about what would work best for everyone and was trying to find the answer by myself (so that everything is perfectly packaged and ready to go) when I realized I should probably just ask you guys instead ijbol
So this is me asking the people what they want!
Feel free to give honest feedback on everything; if you dzon't like something I'm suggesting pls lmk!!!! Now, here's what you need 2 know:
1. MJ, my husband 🕴🏼, my ROC 💎, my torturer who became my remedy 🧎🏽♀️, my world 🌍 , my life... 🥺 ... King must be a main character (but the piece doesn't have to be about him) as this is an MJWP writing contest durrr...
2. There might be word count limit or minimum depending on the prompt/theme, b/c sometimes you need to control the yap! ☝🏽
3. Mature and sensitive content will be allowed, but must include content warnings if needed!
4. No plagiarism and obviously no fucking AI !! I would actually rather you steal the work of a human being than you resort to AI man 😭 but don't...
5. The prompts/themes will be voted for mainly so that readers get to pick what they wanna read if writers *want* them to read
6. Now what I worked out for the judging panel! The panel will consist of 5 judges: two readers (meaning a reader who isn't actively/doesn't write), two writers (writers with works who are *also* active readers aka supportive of other works), & one NiggazLibrary admin that you guys can choose (this is mainly to facilitate the process overall because everything will be happening over there). Also, we will have different judges every cycle, so optimally, everyone involved — readers & writers alike — will get a chance to be on the panel at one point or another 😝
Do we think this is fair?
7. The judging system! Judges will contribute 50% of the score and readers contribute the other 50% of the score - I'm trying to find a way to make the voting (for the readers) private so there's no bias in the comments cuz ik how some of ya get man 😭 groupthink is real chiii ... so i was thinking everyone could send their votes in through a google form?
8. Also, to avoid any biased allegations towards the judges, I wanted to do a blind judging, which would entail blind submission of stories with an alias to the judges so they can't see who was writing & therefore aren't likely to be biased. Another niggazlibrary admin (who is NOT judging that cycle) will be handling the submissions to keep everything anonymous (even though there will be aliases) just for extra security 💯💯💯
Do you guys want the submissions to be through Google forms as well? I keep suggesting Google forms cuz idk how else everyone's comfortable sending it 😅 Lmk if there's another platform you can think of for that , I feel like I'm already losing my tech savvy so I'm kinda at a loss here 😭 I guess email is available too...? Idk I'm rambling now so just #lmk
9. For the contests, I was thinking we could aim to do one every 4-5 months ? I know it sounds ambitious but here's to being hopeful 🍻
10. I know these kinda things usually have a reward/prize but ngl... I genuinely don't know what to do as a prize for this contest guys , I'm not makin no fckn stickers... if I do, ya wouldn't jack them 🤣
Anyway , every writer gets a shoutout regardless if they want & i personally think this is fun and fun is usually ruined by incentive... but if u guys have any ideas i would be happy to consider it 😭
All i could think of was like offering a review for someone's book of their choice? It would be honest tho but ik some ppl do seek that so! Or a cover? Maybe I can convince someone who's good at covers to do one idk 🤣 but yeah idk , like everyone should just vibe kinda no shade...
Finally, I just want to emphasize that this is really open to everyone who writes & reads. The goal here is to help spotlight under-appreciated writers who are good but don't necessarily have much of an audience yet. You don't have to have any works or reads out to participate, anyone can submit.
I rlly want for there to be more active writers and readers the way there was back in 2018/19/20/21 like we had so much fun & had so many different personalities on the app just interacting all at once without rlly gaf 😭 And today we have so much more diversity when it comes to 온라인카지노게임telling and genres, it's a shame that literally everyone's struggling to get a consistent audience or an audience that doesn't feel transactional with its engagement.
It honestly feels like a nasty competitiveness has been building on here for a while now where everyone's rushing to try & write stories that get engagement and when they don't , they resent those who don't read their works and then don't read in turn... & so on & so forth. It also seems that some ppl aren't willing to interact with certain accounts unless those accounts get a co-sign from some *other* account which is sooooo... deeply unserious, I'll say that much 😭
It's a frustrating cycle from the outside looking in cuz I, for one, can't #relate, but hopefully some HEALTHY competition that gathers everyone involved in the supportive side of the community will be a good push towards encouraging genuine interactions. We will show the wannabe-Beyonces how to loosen up & have some damn fun & make some freakin friends! ☝🏽👹
